“Having a lot of issues with grounds carrying over into the pot. Tried buying a metal reusable filter from Ratio but that is even worse than the paper filters. I have been using about 64 grams/8 cups which is less than the recommended 70 grams. Very annoying.”
Thanks for the feedback, Nicholas, and we’re sorry to hear you’ve been running into this issue. Grounds carrying over into the carafe is not something that should normally happen with the Ratio Six.
One thing we’d recommend double-checking first is your grind size. We generally suggest a coarser grind around the texture of raw sugar. If the grind is too fine, especially with reusable metal filters, it can allow more fines and sediment to clog the filter.
If you continue experiencing this after adjusting the grind size, please reach out to our customer service team at hello@ratiocoffee.com and we’d be happy to help troubleshoot further with you!
“I’ve been using the Ratio Six Coffee Maker for a week now and I genuinely love it. The coffee comes out incredibly smooth and well balanced every time, without that harsh edge you sometimes get from other machines. It’s also simple to use. And cleanup is quick and easy. On top of that, the design is sleek, so it actually looks good sitting on the counter. Overall, it just makes consistently great coffee and that’s exactly what I want. I say…this is what coffee is supposed to taste like. Aaaaah.”
“We're enjoying the Ratio Six. It replaces an old Bonavita that still worked perfectly, but the brew basket had broken and a replacement basket was no longer available.
The clean design of the Ratio Six looks nice on the kitchen counter. We brew a full pot every morning, and we're enjoying the coffee so much that since getting this coffee maker, we now often find ourselves brewing a second smaller pot in the early afternoon. The operation of the Ratio Six is simple and it brews quickly. We like having the Bloom feature, and we appreciate having the "coaster" to set down the hot coffee filter once the coffee is finished brewing.
One minor suggestion: the instruction booklet makes no mention of the coaster and it's not shown in the diagram. When we unboxed the coffee maker, we were initially puzzled as to what it might be, but we finally realized that the filter basket fit perfectly on top. You might include an explanation of the coaster in the instruction booklet. Since we couldn't identify it in the instruction booklet, we did speculate briefly whether it was part of the packing materials, meant to be discarded.
My one concern is the long-term durability of the flexible collar that fits in the ring that sets on top of the filter basket. The collar seems a bit delicate, so I wash this (and the other parts) by hand. I hope it holds up for many years.”
“Brews great coffee very similar to the pour over method. It's made very well and designed with intellegent features to ensure the coffee basket and thermal lid are aligned properly. If you want pour over coffee but don't want to stand around waiting for water to heat up, blooming the grind, and gradually pouring the heated water....., this is a great investment.”
“The machine pieces feel very durable. It makes fabulous coffee, much better than my Technivorm. Best of all, the customer support is amazing. I had a few questions and talked to Will, he was easy to talk to and very helpful.
I am very pleased with the product and the company.”
