Ratio Six Coffee Machine - Series 2 Reviews

4.5 Rating 273 Reviews
Plastic coffee basket - Like many people considering a Ratio, I had been looking to for a plastic free solution to coffee making that still involved a paper filter and is easy to do. I was very bummed to receive the Ratio and see that it had a plastic coffee basket. I purchased the glass carafe for an additional $60 to solve this issue, and it works great. Really wish Ratio would just do away with the plastic all together or at least state that the basket is plastic clearly in the description. SO close to a perfect coffee maker! Otherwise I'm very satisfied with the coffee maker itself and all of our brews have been coming out great.

So beautiful! Wasn’t aware of there being no hot plate, but will be better when not using the glass carafe I have been using.

I have a fairly strong background in specialty coffee. At the time I was certified at the highest level the SCA had for roasting, and had my own business for 5 years. A lot of my training and experiences was around coffee extraction and getting the most out of the beans that I could. After moving from a good reputable drip brewer to the Ratio Six - I am very impressed with the brew quality. It's very easy to use and looks very nice. I don't think I do anything special - pre-wet/wash filter, level the grounds by tapping the side of the filter holder, then press brew. Any critisism I have seen are really unfounded or maybe even rediculous in my opinion. As with any brewing method, you can't be afraid to play with your grind fineness - If you don't, you are likely missing out on some great flavors. This is a very legit machine and I would highly recomend it!

Customer service and communication regarding an issue with the first machine delivered was excellent. After some grind size adjustments I have found the machine to make pour over quality coffee consistently. The flat bottom baskets helps to provide even bean saturation over conical filters to produce a consistent brew. Pre heating the insulated carafe goes a long when to keeping your fresh brew hot longer. I just wished I had waited a little bit longer to order and my ordered would have qualified for a discount.

I love ours! We’ve had it for a little over 3 years now. My only negative, is that I would rather have a heating plate and than the “safety” magnet. Yes it’s nice to know that everything is ready to brew, but after you use the machine once, it’s pretty intuitive and I don’t need to be reminded. I think for us a hot plate would be more beneficial. Otherwise love it. Worth the penny.
