“Ratio missed the mark on this upgrade. It is still an upgrade over the original carafe lid. However, there is no way to “lock” the lid closed to keep coffee warm. There are only too positions that the lid rotates to: (1) “pour” where the lid is secure but the spout is open and (2) a position which unlocks the lid for removal and cleaning. A third stop to completely close the carafe would have made this upgrade 5 stars”
We appreciate your feedback! The Ratio Six Series 2 Thermal Carafe has undergone extensive heat testing to ensure its performance. While it may not completely seal, it has been designed to maintain coffee at the ideal drinking temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit for up to three hours.

“Finally!! I was always baffled by how such a fantastic brewer could have such an absolutely crappy carafe (as the series 1 did). The former made a mess and overall was just awkward. The new carafe is more representative of the Ratio brand and is a welcome improvement. I appreciated the discount that was offered to those of us with the old design. No more coffee on the counter or the base of the machine! Yay! I have the white carafe and the new matches exactly.”
“Series 2 of the Ratio Six thermal carafe is a major improvement over series 1. It pours like a dream. It is always ready to pour and keeps coffee hot for hours. It’s not perfect since there’s no way to securely close the pouring hole but I’ll allow it as the coffee’s heat doesn’t seem to vent much out of the hole. Also this lid is TINY compared to series 1. But series 2’s lid so much better. If you have a Series 1 carafe, do yourself a favor and buy this now.”
Thanks for the feedback, Ryan! We were pleasantly surprised at how well it kept the coffee hot even without a complete seal, and we decided to go that route to eliminate having to spin the lid or push a lever.
“HUGE improvement over the first generation carafe, whose lid I had to replace twice over the 5 years I've owned the Ratio 6. Fortunately, Ratio was gracious enough to replace each lid for free, but even more impressive is that they listened to customer feedback about how terrible the first design was. But that's in the past. This new version is simplified and so much more effective. No more dribbling coffee all over the counter. Simple to attach. Plus, you can actually fit your hand inside the carafe for easier cleaning and therefore don't have to use a bottle brush. I've only had it for a few days but I'm pretty confident I won't be running into the same issues I was running into with the previous version. Well done, Ratio squad!”
