“I am happy with the this helmet from Smith. There is room for my sunglasses, it’s got MIPS, and this model is slimmer than other helmets in the same class.
It’s comfortable, well designed and thought out. It also comes with a bag. Pretty bougie.”
“The shell began flaking immediately from contact with the sling on the front of my backpack. The ear adjusters and buckles also need attention weekly, as they slide on the webbing. Neither are deal breakers, just expected higher quality out of a $270 helmet.”
“I've had a variety of Smith helmets, and really like the way they fit, styling, etc.
But all have the same fatal flaw - the helmet pads disintegrate in 3 months or less.
Regardless of how you care for the helmet and pads, rinse or don't rinse the pads, etc.
And replacement pads are NEVER in stock; they aren't even listed as an orderable option on Smith's newer helmets.
I've been limping along for a year now, with no intact pads for my current Forefront 2 helmet.
Have reached out to Smith several times for options, and no response.
A helmet that is unusable after 3 months, is not acceptable.
A company that doesn't answer customer service requests is also unacceptable.
I've also tried posting this review multiple times, and it never appears on the site.”
