“My review is less about the product, and more about the refund policy of Smith Optics.
I purhcased this mount to see if it would fit any of my lights. It did not fit them, so I submitted for a refund. For a $37.38 charge, I got $11.27 back. In what world is that ok? I will not be giving my money to Smith Optics any longer.”
“I was very disappointed in the quality, and particularly, the design of this mount. It is made of plastic and, in my opinion, the attachment to the helmet is poorly designed. Does not look like it will hold with one short screw and a bit of sticky tack. I’m very disappointed as I purchased a new helmet and still now need to use my old Bontrager helmet for night riding. It’s mounted is far superior to this one. Please SMITH redesign this mount.”
“This mount does not work with the NiteRider lights- I have the NiteRider lights and have been missing a way to attach these to my Forefront 2 Helmet without having any holes to thread through. I thought that Universal meant it worked with all lights but not for this one.”
“The threaded nut insert that was glued inside the shell of the helmet over time pulled right out. Not a very secure connection for a light mount. Possibly a flaw in the helmet design as well.”
“This is a very poor execution of a MTB helmet light/ GoPro mount. I would like to see a rigid attachment rather than just providing somewhere to strap something on. Bontrager’s Blaze is a much better helmet for this.”
“The attachment for the helmet is pretty cool, because it is designed for the forefront 2 helmet. I like it because it has more of a shelf than the normal adhesive mount. I was kind of bummed that it did not come with a GoPro style mount that is becoming more of the mounting standard, it only came with a handlebar style mount (the one with the light in the product picture of the website).”
