How are the Handle and Fittings?
Bought this for my first shinken for tameshigiri practice. Was very impressed with 1) how quickly it got delivered and 2) how well made it looks. Fittings feel tight and well made. Blade is sharp out the box. I only used it once for cutting so far, so will have to see how it stands up to the test of time, but overall I'd say well worth the price. My only complaint so far is that it seems a bit thin & light for cutting and I need noticably more power to get through a regular tatami than with our dojo cutter. But that's probably also just a problem with my technique, and my own fault for not checking the specs more carefully.

How are the Handle and Fittings?
Recommended for anyone looking for a simple and practical katana. There are other models on the market which are slightly cheaper but spending about 40-50 more on this one will make a big difference in sword practice as it has better handling and performance. Bad habits are difficult to get rid of. Practicing with a lower end sword tends to mean that you will end up with a few.

Considering my poor experience with the site, I was surprised at the quality of the katana. Everything about it is as described on the page. it would have been great if hishigami pro upgrade was available. Compared to other swords I have, the quality of each individual component is excellent and outperforms more expensive swords from other brands. It has great balance and the transitions like those at the blade collar and pommel are also great.
