"This is my first time seeing and holding a katana, but they feel and look amazing! The silk ito and fittings are all rock solid. The blades are very reflective and attractive! \r\n\r\nThe 1095 purple steel is a unokubi-zukuri and feels agile in hand. The saya is glossy and speckled with yellow-gold dots of varying sizes across its body, adding some depth. It's a bit hard to see the purple-colored blade with my lighting and camera work, but it's more noticeable in person and in a brighter area. The blade geometry allows for a lighter and easier time swinging in practice\u2014it's definitely a noticeable drop in weight compared to the other katana. It also makes a sharp sound as it cuts through the air. I enjoy looking at the contrast between the yellow-gold ito and the obsidian-like blade. It's definitely an unorthodox katana I've customized, but it sure is fun.\r\n\r\nThe 1095 carbon steel clay temp shinogi-zukuri (hazuya polish) with ko-choji hamon is simply beautiful. As compared to the first katana, this one has a bit more weight\u2014but feels powerful in hand. A nice and audible deep whoosh when I swing. The saya has a textured feel of stone? I'm not sure how to accurately describe it, but it feels nice regardless. The hamon really pops out with bright lighting and provides a strong impression. I've given my friends, family, and co-workers a chance to see and\/or hold this specific katana in person; this was a rare experience\u2014a fun one.\r\n\r\nUltimately, I have no problems with my ordered katanas, and I absolutely love them. Hanbon Forge has shown great care and thus provided great quality blades.\r\n\r\nSwordis (David, the one assisting me) has been one of the best I've had when it comes to customer support. Part of the joy of ordering my katanas from Swordis came from the level of support given. They are very responsive and provide detailed information and follow-ups concerning your questions\/needs\u2014you are in good hands.\r\n\r\nWill order through Swordis again.\r\n\r\nThank you, and have a great day!"

“First order from Swordis and would rate it at an overall 3.5 to 4 out of 5. Ordered the Shadow Dancer Premium Musashi Folded Steel. Starting from the tip the blade is gorgeous with the steel layers and pattern very pronounced and look amazing. The polish provided makes the lines stand out well and it is most appreciable in the sunlight. The habaki is a very basic but good looking copper habaki with no corrosion, fading, etc. However the back side edges are very pronounced and have a sharp edge. Enough so that in practice it caught my hand and drew blood. The seppa are well aligned and very basic as would be expected. The Tsuba is what I would expect with no bends, chips, or damages. The fuchi is of decent quality however as a practitioners sword it has a pronounced ledge that over time does create a minor hot spot. The tsuka is very well shaped, the ito tightly wrapped and more comfortable in my hand than swords I have at twice the price point. The saya is my only true point of dissatisfaction. The saya while beautiful on the outside is not well fitted to the blade or the habaki. When unsheathing the sword it is extremely tight fitting around the habaki. Actually required two people the first time. When using the blade for practice returning the sword to the saya unless guided in perfectly it binds and then stops short before fully sheated leaving a gap. If pushed to completely sheath the sword it becomes next to impossible to remove. When compared to multiple swords of a similar price point including a Hanwei, Skyjiro, Ryansword the blade and tsuka are at the same or arguably better quality. As a practitioner of iaijutsu with a live blade the saya is a bit of a let down. However the blade is very light, agile, and maneuverable making practicing cuts and movements very easy and pleasurable. Attempted to upload photos however the consistently failed to do so. Will definitely buy again however I will likely purchase a custom sword with a custom fit saya for my purposes. Thanks for the amazing blade!”

“Very happy with how all the fittings arrived on my custom Hanbon forge sword, as well as the saya and sageyo, but I'm disappointed with the blade. It doesn't look like the image of the blade on the selection screen, and had I known I would probably have not made this purchase. I can't give half stars, but if I could, 3.5 stars. If you dont care about the blade that much, 5 stars”

“It wasn't as classy as the blade version....and I was disappointed at first..it was intended as a gift...the sword version has beautiful inlay. But I have to say, this one, a darker tone, no frills, classy lion head with a nice palm pressure point, sleek and tough as nails.. solid buy even for a 6'3" 265 pound Yank...🇺🇸WELL DONE”

“Ordered a seax. Was thinking it was taking forever until these guy finally emailed me telling me DHS needs “more information” when in reality they wanted to charge me an extra 22$ despite having paid for this sword and the shipping. I don’t know if this was because of tariffs or what because I can’t seem to talk to a human at DHS. Definitely not impressed as I haven’t even received what I ordered yet and had to pay extra for it to even arrive. 👎🏼”

We expressed our apologies and tried to resolve the issue for you, but you were not open to having it resolved. You placed an order without carefully reading the shipping terms for this particular product. You were provided with tracking updates, and DHL requested that the tariffs be paid in order to receive the item. We reached out because we noticed your package was on hold and we tried to help. Then you sent us this message: "Wow… so why the fuck didn’t you guys mention on your website im gonna be charged more to actually receive the fucking item I bought and paid for and paid shipping for? I will never do business with you guys again. What a fucking joke🖕🏽" We then replied with: "While I prefer to avoid negative or hostile conversations, I’d like to clarify that we cover tariffs for most products with an exception for EverestForge for the time being, and this information is clearly stated on our product pages. We plan to solve that out too but we don't control tariffs in the US, unfortuantely and things can take time. If you experienced an issue or believed this was done intentionally, we would have appreciated a polite message so we could address it directly. Please let us know the amount you paid for tariffs, and we will partially refund your order to cover the extra costs." Despite your language, we understood your side of the story and genuinely offered to refund the tariffs for your order. Instead, you did not reach out to us and left this review. None of us would be here if you had been reasonable and reached out politely to our customer service. We are always trying our best to fix issues.

“Ordered my first custom katana and i love it, its very detailed and well crafted. The handle tight and the japanese silk smooth, it feels really good to wield it and its well balanced. The only downside was the shipping since fedex usually doesnt give good delivery options in my country but it was worth the wait.”

“Shadow Dancer Nova Brown Antiqued Sea Wave: very nice build quality and shipping was good but sword is surprisingly unsharp: does not cut paper sheet in standard test but still need to try proper test on water jugs and other targets. I did expect more sharpness based on description.”

“I did a custom katana. It’s a katana what’s not to love, it came pretty fast and is beautiful. The sheet is a little tight and hard to get the blade out of. But other then that, it is exactly what I ordered”
