My sword came in today with a certificate of authenticity and absolutely everything I asked for it was perfect sizing the materials were on point. The wrap is tight and I got the sword as a memorial peace for my grandfather that passed away recently he loved swords and knives and history and I was able to make this custom katana with all the details to represent him the forging process took a minute which is totally understand for a custom sword made with care thank you for my sword at the extremely low price that was at for such a work of art

Bought a custom katana. Wasn’t super sharp, but looks beautiful. It is my first ever sword, so I don’t really know what to expect when buying swords, but I am very happy with it overall.

I bought a beautiful dragonfly katana by Bugei. For $1,200 my expectations on quality were high. I received it in 10 days as it was “in stock”. The sword is so well made, the beauty and custom craftsmanship exceeded my expectations by far. The Tsuka Ito, Fuchi and Kashira are extremely tight and uniform. The folded steel blade is gorgeous, very sharp, and a pronounced gunome hamōn. Well done! I specifically ordered the 29 inch blade, slightly heavier, and also because the Tsuka has an overall length of 13 inches (33 cm) but the beautiful full length Bōhi helps to reduce weight and balance. Thank you Swordis and Bugei

I ordered a custom sword costing me over $3000. It was supposed to take 3 to 6 months to complete. It took over a year for it to even ship. After countless emails of issues, we were finally after a year able to begin the shipping process. Not only did they not update the shipping address and send it to the wrong location. But when I was able to finally get it, it is subpar quality for what I paid. Not only did I spend the extra $800 to get a proper scabbard (saya) and also pay extra for the custom saya fit. Out of all the issues that this sword has had in this whole process, not counting all the other issues with the sword and the custom fittings and the steel and the excuses. But I would at least expect the custom saya fit to actually be implemented. The scabbed doesn’t even stay on the sword. It falls off whenever I pick it up and it constantly rattles with any movement. All in all I had high expectations and I understand that complications arise, but I would at least expect the scabbard to fit the sword when you pay that type of money.

Hi Colin, we've already reached out to you privately to resolve this and we're waiting to hear back. On the timeline: the tool steel you ordered is exceptionally difficult to forge and temper — narrow working window, high rejection rate — and these delays became common enough that we removed it from our custom builder. The urushi saya was the second factor; urushi cures in many thin layers and humidity directly affects cure time, which can stretch the schedule by months. On the shipping address: the address on file changed after the initial order was placed, which is why the package went to the previous one. That said, we should have caught it before dispatch. The saya not fitting properly is also on us — a custom-fit saya that rattles isn't a custom-fit saya. In our email we've offered instructions to fix the saya rattle, plus a partial refund or a return for a replacement. Custom sword builds don't always go as smoothly as we'd like, and when they don't, our priority is making it right for the customer. Thank you for your understanding!

The fittings are rock solid. No rattling, no loose parts just a perfectly assembled piece of functional art.

The balance on the European longsword I ordered is perfect. It feels much lighter in the hand than it looks.

I’ve been a collector for 20 years and this is one of the best experiences I’ve had with an online retailer.

I was pleasantly surprised by the weight. It’s heavy enough to feel real but balanced enough to be nimble.

First order from Swordis and would rate it at an overall 3.5 to 4 out of 5. Ordered the Shadow Dancer Premium Musashi Folded Steel. Starting from the tip the blade is gorgeous with the steel layers and pattern very pronounced and look amazing. The polish provided makes the lines stand out well and it is most appreciable in the sunlight. The habaki is a very basic but good looking copper habaki with no corrosion, fading, etc. However the back side edges are very pronounced and have a sharp edge. Enough so that in practice it caught my hand and drew blood. The seppa are well aligned and very basic as would be expected. The Tsuba is what I would expect with no bends, chips, or damages. The fuchi is of decent quality however as a practitioners sword it has a pronounced ledge that over time does create a minor hot spot. The tsuka is very well shaped, the ito tightly wrapped and more comfortable in my hand than swords I have at twice the price point. The saya is my only true point of dissatisfaction. The saya while beautiful on the outside is not well fitted to the blade or the habaki. When unsheathing the sword it is extremely tight fitting around the habaki. Actually required two people the first time. When using the blade for practice returning the sword to the saya unless guided in perfectly it binds and then stops short before fully sheated leaving a gap. If pushed to completely sheath the sword it becomes next to impossible to remove. When compared to multiple swords of a similar price point including a Hanwei, Skyjiro, Ryansword the blade and tsuka are at the same or arguably better quality. As a practitioner of iaijutsu with a live blade the saya is a bit of a let down. However the blade is very light, agile, and maneuverable making practicing cuts and movements very easy and pleasurable. Attempted to upload photos however the consistently failed to do so. Will definitely buy again however I will likely purchase a custom sword with a custom fit saya for my purposes. Thanks for the amazing blade!
