“Gotta say I'm really happy with my order from Swordis. Before I made a purchase, I did some research on forums, youtube, watched videos, and all that. Times are tough but we still have our wants! I paid about 400ish for my katana and it is well worth it. When I was looking through discussions, I came across some people complaining that Swordis is being cheap by only using ONE mekugi (bamboo pin) to secure the blade to the hilt. Based on my understanding, this is the TRADITIONAL way katanas have always been made. So hopefully my review helps educate some people out there.”

“I've seen several people complaining about the rattling for shadowdancer swords. For me, this is my 4th order from Swordis and I've received one that has slight rattling. I talked to support and they offered the option of a return or for a quick fix where they send out a video. It literally took 2 minutes. I agree that I shouldn't have to fix a new sword but I think the 2 minutes it took versus the quality of the sword at an amazing price, it was pretty much a win win situation for me. I appreciate the patience support has and they even followed up to make sure that the rattling was fixed.”

“I needed to get a katana for practice but after paying for classes and transportation to get there, I am on a very tight budget. I reached out to customer support and talked to David who was very understanding and patient. He spent quite a long time with me to find the best option. Not once did i feel that he was pushy at all. I'm very grateful and thankful for Swordis.”

“I was sent a slightly different version of the sword I ordered. I understand how the mistake can be made as it was very subtle. Customer service is amazing at processing a return and even shipped out the right sword before I shipped the wrong one back.”

“The sword I ordered was actually damaged. I'm not sure how or why but the packaging had a hole in it like it was ripped out. I was very concerned and when I opened it, the scabbard of the katana was chipped. I dreaded contacting customer support but David was very helpful and a return was organized immediately.”

“The Shadow Dancer Handmade Clay Temper High Carbon Steel Katana came in 3 weeks and when it did I noticed the mekugi was so crooked and looked very damaged. Then the blade collar was loose right out the box. I emailed and sent a video and the company said they wanted me to fix it myself, please tell me why I paid 400 to fix a sword myself right out the box brand new? These people are a bunch of lazy scammers and I want my money back!!!”

We’d like to apologize once again, but as you know, we’ve already resolved this privately and explained the situation. ShadowDancer swords are made using traditional methods, which means they have a single mekugi pin. This design allows the sword to be easily disassembled, since over time any sword can develop parts that loosen with use. Having one mekugi makes it much simpler to take apart and maintain. Unfortunately, during transportation we’ve had a few cases where the mekugi was damaged. For this reason, we always include spare mekugi pins. You can replace the damaged one to eliminate the rattle, and we recommend keeping the second spare in case you need it later after extended use. This is not a defect but actually a traditional feature that many of our customers appreciate. To make things easier, we’ve also prepared a short video that shows step by step how to replace the mekugi—it only takes 1–2 minutes. Thank you very much for your understanding!

“Swordis made me an offer i couldnt refuse! I received 3 swords recently to replace the 2 that were wrongly advertised. Very Happy! All 3 were hair popping sharp and the extra one is for me to get tested to verify it is actually S7 steel. Great service,awesome communication!”
