Ordered a seax. Was thinking it was taking forever until these guy finally emailed me telling me DHS needs “more information” when in reality they wanted to charge me an extra 22$ despite having paid for this sword and the shipping. I don’t know if this was because of tariffs or what because I can’t seem to talk to a human at DHS. Definitely not impressed as I haven’t even received what I ordered yet and had to pay extra for it to even arrive. 👎🏼

We expressed our apologies and tried to resolve the issue for you, but you were not open to having it resolved. You placed an order without carefully reading the shipping terms for this particular product. You were provided with tracking updates, and DHL requested that the tariffs be paid in order to receive the item. We reached out because we noticed your package was on hold and we tried to help. Then you sent us this message: "Wow… so why the fuck didn’t you guys mention on your website im gonna be charged more to actually receive the fucking item I bought and paid for and paid shipping for? I will never do business with you guys again. What a fucking joke🖕🏽" We then replied with: "While I prefer to avoid negative or hostile conversations, I’d like to clarify that we cover tariffs for most products with an exception for EverestForge for the time being, and this information is clearly stated on our product pages. We plan to solve that out too but we don't control tariffs in the US, unfortuantely and things can take time. If you experienced an issue or believed this was done intentionally, we would have appreciated a polite message so we could address it directly. Please let us know the amount you paid for tariffs, and we will partially refund your order to cover the extra costs." Despite your language, we understood your side of the story and genuinely offered to refund the tariffs for your order. Instead, you did not reach out to us and left this review. None of us would be here if you had been reasonable and reached out politely to our customer service. We are always trying our best to fix issues.

The Shadow Dancer Handmade Clay Temper High Carbon Steel Katana came in 3 weeks and when it did I noticed the mekugi was so crooked and looked very damaged. Then the blade collar was loose right out the box. I emailed and sent a video and the company said they wanted me to fix it myself, please tell me why I paid 400 to fix a sword myself right out the box brand new? These people are a bunch of lazy scammers and I want my money back!!!

We’d like to apologize once again, but as you know, we’ve already resolved this privately and explained the situation. ShadowDancer swords are made using traditional methods, which means they have a single mekugi pin. This design allows the sword to be easily disassembled, since over time any sword can develop parts that loosen with use. Having one mekugi makes it much simpler to take apart and maintain. Unfortunately, during transportation we’ve had a few cases where the mekugi was damaged. For this reason, we always include spare mekugi pins. You can replace the damaged one to eliminate the rattle, and we recommend keeping the second spare in case you need it later after extended use. This is not a defect but actually a traditional feature that many of our customers appreciate. To make things easier, we’ve also prepared a short video that shows step by step how to replace the mekugi—it only takes 1–2 minutes. Thank you very much for your understanding!

Hey! We can guarantee that this is not a common issue, and we reached out to the shipping company as soon as you messaged us. As soon as they get back to us, we’ll let you know but don’t worry, we’ll get it resolved for you.

I got recommended by a friend, so I ordered a simple Katana. UPS delivery lost the sword and Swordis gave me a bunch of excuses, including the person claiming to be the owner of the company who said that they dont trust their customers and dont want to refund or reorder. Do not waste your money in Swordis, ther are so many other options with good customer service out there. I wasted almost $200 with Swordis.

According to UPS, the package was successfully delivered and placed beside your door, with a photo provided as proof of delivery. David from our support team reached out to explain that, unfortunately, once a package is delivered and proof is provided, it is outside of our control. We understand you believe the package may have been mistaken for trash and picked up by a collector, and we are truly sorry that happened. After consulting with others and taking time to reflect, I have come to understand that even in unclear situations like this, businesses are often expected to take greater responsibility. We acknowledge that we could have approached this more thoughtfully from the beginning. That is why I personally reached out, to better understand the situation and hopefully find a way forward. You mentioned in your reply, “I don’t need anything from you or Swordis as there are plenty of options out there.” You also expressed doubt that David is a real person and questioned the quality of support provided. I want to be transparent. David is indeed part of our team, and he spent a considerable amount of time communicating with UPS and doing his best to help resolve the issue on your behalf. We are sorry if that did not come across clearly. When we take time to assess cases like this, it is not because we do not trust our customers. Unfortunately, we have encountered situations where policies were misused, so we take care to evaluate each case thoroughly. Our intention is always to be fair and supportive, not dismissive. In the past year and a half of doing business and serving our clients, we have only had two similar situations where we could not resolve things as everyone hoped. Throughout, we have always aimed to be fair and honest with our customers. This is also why you were recommended by a friend—because we genuinely care. As a small and growing business, we are constantly learning. Your feedback helps us improve, even when it is difficult to hear.
