How are the Handle and Fittings?
From what I know, Shadow Dancer only makes Japanese swords so this was an impulse buy for me as I wanted to check out their take on an EU sword. I can't comment too much since this is my first longsword but it feels very well made and solid.

How are the Handle and Fittings?
I am a huge Shadow Dancer fan and have been collecting some of their models for several years. From what I know, they focus on Japanese swords so this piqued my interest and I went for it. It is definitely different but like always, the quality and craftsmanship is legendary. I've never wielded other swords besides Japanese ones so I can't comment on performance. All I can say is this thing feels like a beast and is heavier than what I am used to.

How are the Handle and Fittings?
The sword came in only a thin, cardboard, black sword box closed with transparent tape only at the ends. No shipping box. Left on my porch standing up. Despite all that the sword was undamaged. As reviewers have mentioned it's nice, well balanced and worth the money. It seems lighter than it is. The scabard is much nicer than you'd expect at this price. The two belts.... not so much. All in all, I like it!

Shadow Dancer has a very solid reputation as a sword maker and this one does not quite life up to their reputation for fit and finish. However, it is still a solid feeling sword that is somewhat unique among the offerings out there for European style swords. As a first atttempt at a longsword, they did a solid job. I am hopful they will continue to grow in this space and make more offerings that fit the needs of longsword buyers as they have with folks who love their katana.
