How are the Handle and Fittings?
BALANCE: -Balance point: 6.5 in. Properly balanced with points of percussion, inertia, & vibration all at ~23 in. -Heavier cutter than weight suggests due to lean length, with robust katana cross section and little distal taper. -Longer & slower than longswords, capable of chaining powerful swings to threaten a large area. -16 in handle provides grip options but hampers certain LS techniques. -Spear grip with dominant hand back sets up thrusts and rapid series of swipes from every direction. Curve naturally swings edge into alignment. DURABLE CONSTRUCTION: -Flat near zero grind without rippling, very sharp. Regular Bohi with little rippling. Slight irregularity of curve. -Rough fake hamon detracts from dull mirror polish -9260 silicon spring steel sits at a sweet spot of composition, toughness, hardenability, and price. Tough enough for verified 57 HRC. Through hardened; doesn’t take a set. -No loosening or edge damage after chopping 3” branches and plenty of cardboard rolls -Minimal flex so pierces better than expected, esp hard targets. -Recommend full size tsuba replacement on request for safety. -Hishigami pro ito wrap stays tight. Real ray skin. -Basic wood saya fits well. -Protective packaging, prompt shipping.

Let me start this off by saying the hishigami pro is a must for the nodachi. The extra grip comes in really handy with the extra length and weight of the nodachi. I have to say that the color of the tsuka ito is not my fave as I prefer something more subtle but otherwise, the blade and fittings are incredible. You can feel that it is a higher quality sword despite the price.
