How are the Handle and Fittings?
The epitome of class and elegance. Nice edge geometry and polish overall. Glad to see that it is a real full tang (I checked), and everything fits nicely (no rattles or loose parts). Feels comfortable and has a nice presence without feeling slugggish, so far it has cut very well on softer targets. The handle wrap stays tight even after being used for about 20 minutes, and I would highly recommend this piece to anyone who wants a great piece.

I am very pleased with what I received! First let me say that I requested a couple of small changes when I ordered the Katana and Swordis happily complied at no cost. Specifically, I am fond of black samegawa and for me, the purple ito didn't work. I have a Naval background so I asked for black samegawa and a deep blue ito and sageo. Because the Saya has a speckled finish with many colors, including blue, the blue Ito and sageo blended perfectly. The Nagamaki Zukuri blade shape met my expectations. I don't know if the kissaki is a chu-kissaki or o-kissaki for this zukuri. If this was a Shinogi Zukuri, I think it would be an o-kissaki, but that may just be normal for the Nagamaki Zukuri. It was what I wanted with no yokote. The blade is very light and nimble. I don't plan on doing any cutting with it, but it handles very well in the hand. The silver plated fittings are beautiful. There are a couple, tiny defects in the tsuba where it appears that the silver didn't plate completely. They aren't immediately apparent, but do show up on closer inspection. The fuchi, koshira and menuki are beautiful. The ito is tight with minimal movement of the knots. The shito-dome on the kurigata are silver to match the silver theme, as are the seppa and habaki. A nice attention to detail! I don't know if the shito-dome are glued in place as I haven't removed the sageo. I have other swords for cutting, but I wanted this one simply for its beauty and I am not disappointed.

Firstly - this sword, looking very acceptable in the Photos, took nearly 4 months (28 Nov 24 to 15 Mar 25) to arrive - secondly - the blade was over 73cms long, making the piece very long & very tip heavy - this Imbalance simply makes this an unweidly sword to swing around for prolonged periods of kata - the metalwork is finished to perfection, though; making this specific sword - simply a Museum Piece. When I asked Swordis for a Wakazashi copy of this piece - the Manufacturer - Shadow Dancer wanted to rip me off an extra 30% (aprox $500 OZ) for the smaller copy - saying that this was Customising Fees... But, seriously - how can a so-called recognised Sword Manufacturer ask an extra 500 dollars for a smaller sword? Makes little sense to most! And, truly, does anyone else charge that Excessive Penalty? Shadow Dancer - first & last, and, yes - such a waste of $1500.

We’re truly sorry to hear that you feel this way, especially since this your second review and your initial one was quite positive. Regarding the price, the sword was listed at $980, and with the discount, it came to approximately $890, shipping included. You are correct that the delivery took longer than expected. This was due to the New Year holidays (factory has been in a vacation for almost a month), and the original estimate did not include shipping time, which added to the delay. As for the matching tanto, you reached out requesting one, and the supplier kindly agreed to produce it at the same price, provided the length followed their standard wakizashi size (50 cm). Since you requested a longer version (55 cm), this required them to create a one-off prototype, which is why an additional $300 was quoted. Please rest assured that there has been no intention to overcharge you. We’ve genuinely done our best to accommodate your requests, and as you can imagine, custom pieces are not just about materials—they also involve significant time, coordination, and craftsmanship. Lastly, could you kindly send us photos of the blade showing the 73 cm measurement? All blades for this model are made to the standard length of 71 cm, so we'd appreciate your help in verifying this. Thank you again for your understanding—we’re always here to assist.

I think it was the 10% Discount offered by SWORDIS that swayed me to by a Shadow Dancer - Musashi Koshirae Nagamaki Zukuri Katana sword - that eventually turned up in an undamaged conditions. Lovely work fellows - certainly worth the dollars with the craft you turned on this piece.

Sword is beautiful but the purple was brighter than I thought. I also thought that the scabbard had a purplish black tinge based on the pictures but I don't see it on the sword. Perhaps lighting differences.
