How's the Blade?
How are the Handle and Fittings?
I was unimpressed by this tanto. I had heard great things about Ronin Katana and expected to love this tanto. The fit and finish was just not very good. The samegawa (ray skin) sticks up in one place and rubs your hand and the glue used to hold the fittings on is visible in several places. The Ito is not very tight and the Tsuka(handle) seems blocky and overlarge in proportion to the slim blade. The Fuchi and kashira are both too large for a tanto this slim, they seem to be designed for a much bigger sword. It seems like the Tsuka was made to fit the fuchi and kashira when a smaller fuchi and kashira would have looked and fit better. The blade rattles in the saya, which seems odd as the saya is very slim and seems to be made to fit this blade. Many tanto have a slightly curved shape and can share the same saya, this tanto is almost completely straight and is very thin. This would mean that the saya would have to be made specifically for this blade and it should definitely fit better than it does. I like the blade because it has a Bo-hi and a So-hi, but isn’t an Unokubi-Zukuri.
