How are the Handle and Fittings?

“The sword itself is very good. Like others, I had to file down the grip side of the crossguard for comfort, the edges there come pretty sharp. I'm building my own frog for the scabbard, the belt it comes with is worthless, it lets the sword hang at your knee and parallel to the ground with very bad balance. The scabbard itself came with some white grease that gets all over the blade, but I keep cleaning the blade off and re-applying mineral oil to try to get that gunk out of there. If this is your first sharp sword, this may feel heavy, but my research shows that the weight (measured at 1206g or 2lb 10.4oz) is in line with historical instances of one-handed arming swords. The grip is fine, there's a little tag of leather cord sticking out and some un-polished leather at the end of the grip. I can get two hands on it by gripping high up and putting my left on the fishtail pommel. Then it feels pretty light. Mostly it feels heavy because I'm out of shape.”
