How's the Blade?
How are the Handle and Fittings?
I ordered both the Tonbo Katana and Tonbo Wakizashi as a Daisho set and they arrived together 10 days later - an outstanding response time. Althougn the details of the Katana's fittings are not as pronounced as the Wakizashi's, they are still FANTASTIC! This is probably my most "authentic" Katana. With a 12 inch Tsuka and 28 inch blade, this Katana harks back to Katanas of the late Edo period (1850's) in Japan when there was a penchant for slightly longer and more ornate swords. The Hamon has been obviously elegantly tempered by hand due to the pleasing asymmetrical differences between each side. This is a sword with "heft" to it and, in my opinion, is not particularly fast or nimble. Rather, it is intended to remain sharp, strong, stable and dependable in combat. Due to its authenticity and careful attention to detail, I recommend this sword most highly - especially in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse!
