With amazing amenities we were able to enjoy our time on the lake fishing, boating, cooking, racing, exploring, laughing. “We stayed here with our two yellow labs and had the most relaxing time! Super private, the doggos were able to explore and run around in the woods surrounding the site. Visited some nearby hiking trails and got to see all the colorful changing leaves. The tent was cozy and warm at night. Overall was a great little getaway!!”
“We loved Captain Max’s little paradise. The lake is private and rural so it’s quiet and peaceful at all hours of the day. Our dog could run around free and play in the water or fetch around his 30 acres of land. Max lives nearby and was available for any questions or concerns we had and also offered several suggestions of places nearby to visit. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it to everyone!”

We took the canoe out for a fishing trip, did some local garage sale shopping, went to Binghamton for some tasty food and overall really had an amazing weekend in nature.”

“Agfa Lake is the perfect location. The tent is set on a hill in a beautiful clearing with a perfect view of the lake, and it's less than 100 yards to walk to the water. There are plenty of wooded areas around to explore, there are canoes/rowboats at your disposal on the lake, and when I say the lake is full of fish, I'm not kidding! Catch your dinner or catch and release, everything we caught was worth cooking... Plus, the lake is pretty shallow and super clean so would definitely be good for a swim or a float. We're bringing a raft next time we go.
We've camped with Captain Max before at his other location (Occanum Creek), and we definitely plan on becoming regulars at both sites. Next time we go, we want to bring a few others too as there's more than enough room at both spots for a few tents (and then some). Plus, we see the value in both sites based on seasons/temps/weather.
Most importantly, Captain Max definitely makes you want to return. He is so welcoming, makes sure you're comfortable, and goes out of his way to ensure you (and your fur family) have all you need to be happy. He gave us great tips on things to do in the area, where to go on the properties, and what kind of wildlife is roaming. He also keeps the sites clean and in great shape and offers access to his personal property if you need to fill up your water supply or anything else. He's personable and really makes you want to go back.
There are no negatives to staying on either site - Agfa Lake or Occanum Creek - it just depends on what you're looking for. Max is wonderful, the sites are great, the land is maintained... nothing bad to say. If we could give more stars, we would, and we'll return as soon as we're able. (SUV recommended and you will have no issue driving to either site.)”
