“Great location and Mark was easy to communicate with. One star removed for no access to the pond prominently featured in listing photos and sold to us during booking by Tentrr phone reps, only to learn upon reaching the site "Swimming in the pond is not recommended from June to August because the bass are spawning." This was after the owner confirmed via email that we could take a dip. One star removed for noise levels. On any camp site but especially on an 80-acre site with one tent, we expected silence. Unfortunately we were up late listening to what sounded like automatic and long gun firearm discharge and ATVs, albeit on July 4th. One star removed for damp firewood. After requesting kindling in advance and getting acknowledgment we were unable to get any camp firewood to light up, even after purchasing fire starters. This was with the $15 extra firewood package. When we asked about kindling - "It's mixed up in the firewood rack. You can also use small branches that are laying on the ground in the woods." There was no kindling in the rack and the twigs were wet. A $5 investment in wood and fire starters would yield big returns in customer satisfaction after a long day's driving.
Mark was friendly, responsive, the site had a beautiful meadow, was clean with lots of water - potable and non. Contrary to tentrr advice Mark advised to bring all drinking water in bottles which defeats the purpose of a low environmental footprint, but we did have all the water we needed. With a few tweaks this site would be 5-star.”
“Our stay was great! The host was responsive and helped us transport our stuff from the site.
The site was isolated and well-kept.
My only recommendation would be to bring a car that can handle some serious, steep off-roading. Otherwise, you'll have to park at the bottom of the hill and either carry supplies up yourself or get the host to help you out.”
“We had a great stay at Hummingbird Haven. The site was beautiful and isolated. Mark was an outstanding host. The site was clean when we arrived and he was available if we needed anything. We'll definitely go back.”
“This campsite was gorgeous! It is in a secluded meadow on top of a mountain, We picked a chilly weekend to go, but the wood burning stove in the tent helped to keep us warm. I recommend bringing extra blankets/warm layers for the cooler months as it felt significantly colder at the tent site than it did down in the town of Roscoe. This campsite is a must for anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful camping experience”
“My girlfriend and I enjoyed this campsite. It was located in an open grassy field surrounded by lots of wooded area. The property was a drive up the side a large hill so the area around was hilly to hike around. The site itself was on a flat area. It felt quite secluded and we were free to wander around without running into other people or animals. Our host Mark was very accommodating and let us stay past check out time on our last day. The town of Roscoe was only a 5 minute drive away and had some nice places to visit. Overall good campsite!”
