“This felt like a scam. The view was beautiful but we had multiple issues.
-It was a CLIMB to the camp site: 1/2 mile up a steep hill and you're not allowed to drive up closer.
- My main concern was the bathroom. The "tent" that covered the bathroom was torn to shreds from the wind, the wooden toilet seat was completely splintered, and there was a wasps nest in the bin!!!!
- There was no safety or guidance on how to use the wood stove inside the tent. Luckily my boyfriend was familiar. It had clearly never been cleaned out because it was full of ash, making the airflow minimal and difficult to keep a fire burning all night.
- Our CampKeeper came by 4 hours after we arrived to bring the sheets because our bed was not made. Luckily we brought our own!
- Even with the wood fire in the tent we were still freezing! There was no insulation and holes in the tent corners so bugs were getting in the tent!
- The 5 gallon provided water was about 2.5 gallons with brown lumps at the bottom
- There was moldy food left in the cupboard
The list goes on....
I've been renting with Airbnb for multiple years and never been so disappointed! This listing should be for a campsite ONLY. I would've rather brought my own camping gear and been 10x more comfortable. Great idea, but terrible execution”
“It was horrible. The tent was disgusting. There was mice feces in the box where they keep supplies. The tent was left open before my arrival so it was full of insects. I found multiple ticks inside the tent.
I booked with tentrr because I thought there would be a sense of a standard, it was far from being the case.”
“Autumn Glee & Tentrr Fails
Starting with the positives - the view and setting is spectacular, majestic and feels very off the grid. The autumn color views were glorious and the site is located perfectly to enjoy sunrise, sunset, and the big sky of stars. Great location close to tons of hiking as well. Now the negatives - the 1/2 mile uphill slog over gravel and uneven grassy hill seems unnecessary since the owner could definitely allow drop off and pick up on either side of the trip. It’s very inconvenient and requires a lot of effort (we even bought an all terrain wagon after reading earlier reviews). We also had a severe wind storm this weekend which blew apart our camp toilet and the response was completely inadequate telling us it onto make it work. The bathroom tent was literally shredded on 3 sides by the wind. All in all, the customer service experience was severely lacking - especially for such a high price point as this is for a tentrr. If they had remedied their bathroom tent while we were there and allowed for campsite drop off and pick up we would be able to recommend this site in a minute. But unfortunately our experience at tent 2 (and those of our neighbors at the other site tent 1) were that the price should be much lower.”
“The view was amazing, and the site was nice and secluded. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars even though I really want to is there was about 10 hornets living in the tent and we hadn’t noticed until daylight the second day. In addition in one of the boxes there was a family of mice. Soo honestly probably more like 3.5 but my partner and I were trying to take it in stride because we had set this time aside and everything was paid for. I would hope that in the future if I decide to use Tentrr again that it has less hornets and mice”
“Location was super easy to get to, walk to campsite was not bad. Our wood was not quartered - super difficult to start fire. No mosquito bites so that was a huge plus! Woke up day 2 with lots of Wasps in our tent so vacated ASAP.”
“As others have stated, the parking situation for this site is not ideal (and not addressed anywhere in the site overview or guidelines). Trying to unload a car full of gear which can take multiple trips up and down a half mile incline is incredibly difficult and would have changed our decision to stay at this site had the listing been transparent about this.
All that said, it is a beautiful site once you arrive at the top of the hill and the views are spectacular. The tent can use some minor repairs (small holes in screen) and the site could be better prepped ahead of each stay (ideally, canvas windows would be opened to let air through as there is no shade at this site and the tent was extremely hot with front and sides completely closed upon arrival).
George was very friendly and responsive when needed. If the parking situation were addressed, I have no doubt this is a 5 star site.”
“We really enjoyed the campsite and loved the wide open skies and mountains in the distance. Great for sunsets and catching some shooting stars.
It gets pretty hot early in the day so go explore the surrounding area, and find some shade elsewhere or a swimming hole to cool off.
Highly recommended and also make sure you check with campkeeper on whether the runs from Shekomeko meets are being delivered that weekend and place an order.”
