With the CoolFreeze CF-18, Dometic Waeco has successfully designed a truly portable cooler/freezer. A flyweight when compared with other compressor coolers, and convenient to transport with the sturdy carrying handle, this compressor is a heavyweight champion in terms of performance. Due to the reinforced insulation, the running times are significantly reduced, which is why the CF-18 is aptly referred to as the energy saver.

I had it for years and the main advantage is the SIZE that magically seems perfect for most needs. It is perfect if used as a -18C freezer to complement a larger +4C fridge and that is how I use it these days. Sadly it failed me and I had it repaired due to vorsening on/off malfunctioning electronics. I think the 12V electrician just got rid of the electronics and it now runs just straight over the 12V thermostat - no problem. That strange locking latch is ... well crap! It is counterintuitive so I wrote an DYMO instruction on it, ("press lock here - press open here") but after changing the aging rubber lid-seals the pressure on the lock became to much so the plastic latch snapped. Impossible to fix (plastic!!) so I sealed the entire "latchy-thing-handle" with plenty of silicone and then screwed on a tie-down elastic loop (you see on ute trays) and a disk-hook and that holds the lid down perfectly tight and good. Opening the lid-elastic requires a bit of care... Still happy with it and I expect to enjoy it for a few more years for sure. You see, I can't travel without those almond chocolate coated vanilla icecream sticks!!

I've just received this product to use on a boat. I plugged it into my car cigarette lighter and let it run for a few minutes. I was very impressed with how quickly it became cold. I was expecting the 'sort of cold' that I had experienced many years ago with car fridges. Obviously these products have improved a lot over the years. Early days yet, but first impressions good

This is a great little fridge, fits perfectly behind the 3rd row of seats in our 200 series so I can keep it there all the time. Perfect to keep the cold groceries, drinks, snacks cool while traveling or just going into town. I love it!

This small fridge is the size I wanted. I already have a CF50. It is a little narrower & less wider but about the same height as a standard size esky. Inside is quite small but as I said the correct size for me. The main compartment is very tall & narrow & the other compartment is shallow & also narrow. The latter being directly above the compressor, fans & power unit. There is a plastic mesh type gate that can be arranged to separate the two compartments in two different configurations. The areas as I described above & when the gate is laid flat you have the whole upper section as one long but shallow area where large bottles or quite long items can be laid flat. All the cooling/freezing tubes are all in the upper section & none in the very deep section. I don't know how this will work because my big freezer has the section with no freezing tubes high above the compressor area & acts as a fridge not a freezer. With the CF-18 what appears to be the fridge section is way down low in the very deep section where there are no freezing tubes but very cold air will fall down into that area. The very bottom section may be too cold as a fridge but not freeze or take very long time to freeze items. Will have to do some freeze testing with it. This configuration shouldn't affect me but may affect others, hence my detailed description. I intend to use it to freeze meats, drinks, OJ, milk etc. in smaller plastic bottles & recycle the frozen water bottles & thawing items in a soft esky bag to use a fridge/thawing bag. It is actually 2 quite thick bags, one inside the other & serves it's purpose even on hot days. My 5 star rating is based on my previous success with Waeco products, their good after sales advice/service & the hopefully long life of this 18 litre product.
