A very reliable, comfortable tourer. Room for allmost everything, good mpg (45 mpg) two up. Good handling.

I've had the Pan European for 7 years. It's now coming up for 10 years old and runs as smooth as ever. 42,000 on the clock. Apart from tyres, servicing, depreciation and petrol it doesn't cost anything.

I have had many bikes over the years, starting with a CB50N at 16 onto Yamaha 350RD LC and so on. I now own a Triumph Thunderbird custom and my Pan European. I bought this off the internet with 70,000 miles on the clock and cosmetically rough. I have spent maybe £500 getting into fully working order, heated grips, replacing the non working electric screen etc. Now I have to say this bike is amazing. I have been on two European tours with my wife over 3,500 miles each time and its not missed a beat, even when it was boiling hot in Italy and I hadn't topped up the coolant she kept on going. Soft and easy to ride at low speed in the city, its also capable of long high speed runs down the autobahn. Good size tank allows you fill up and go long distance, the side panniers give you plenty of room and with the top box they cover two people for two weeks with ease. You also have the two pockets in the front fairing for SatNav (one is lockable) and all your other bits while you wander around those European towns. If you didn't know my bike had nearly 80,000 you wouldn't know by riding it, its solid and handles like new. I would recommend this bike to anyone who wants to go touring

Heavy bike but sure footed if it was a horse it would be a hunter rather than a racehorse, excellent protection from the elements and very easy to suddenly find your doing 100mph without realising it not really for boy racers, excellent tourer and real bike rider type of person.

I bought this bike based on my experience of the previous model ST1100 ABS. I am happy for my decision even though both bikes are quite old. If you like touring, need protection from the wind and rain, they are the perfect choice. Running costs are higher than expected but well worth the money.

Whether your in city traffic or cruising on the open road the pan is easy to ride. In slow moving traffic you can crawl along with both feet on the foot rests on this superbly balanced bike. On the twistys it takes corners with ease and accelerates quickly and smoothly. On the motorway it cruises along quietly. Plenty of luggage capacity and removable panniers coupled with 350 mile tank range make it ideal for touring. In the past I've got bored with my bikes and changed them every 6 months but since getting the pan 2 years ago I've not wanted another bike.

I cannot fault my Pan, the way it is built is everything I could wish for in a bike. We took it to France for five weeks which included a wee trip into Italy and Switzerland the round trip was a total of 5,000 miles with two up with luggage as well. The Pan handles great in the wet as well as we found out on this trip it never faltered once, it's is a very reliable bike. Okay the bike is heavy but that's to be expected ; once you master it's handling which I must say is very easy, it's also a head turner with people admiring the look of the bike mines is a 2009 model and I just love the bike. Test ride one you wont be disappointed in fact you will be well impressed.

I have owned the bike for about 7 months and about three thousand miles. It is extremely comfortable for me, (6' 0") and takes loads of 'stuff' in the panniers and top box. It handles far better than it's size would suggest, and once on the move, it's weight pretty much disappears. It is best suited to fast 'A' and 'B' roads and motorways, where it excels. The engine is an absolute peach with far more grunt than I ever need. Stick it in fifth gear, leave it there, and roll along on the crest of the enormous torque wave. And when you do need to , ahem, 'make progress', wind the throttle on and the engine takes on a different character, with what I think is a tasty sounding rasp from the venerable Honda V4. Suddenly you find yourself being launched at the horizon extremely rapidly. Fuel consumption has remained static at about 40 mpg, whether I ride like my grandad or wind it on. Comfort is brilliant, with several hundred miles in the saddle easily possible in a day. The electric screen is certainly not a gimmick, allowing the rider to tune out the wind blast as they wish, while on the move. I come from the world of BMW flat twins, so this is a very, very different bike, and has take some time to get used to. For me, it's not better, just does a different job. If you want smooooooooooth, comfort, a barn door deflecting the wind and weather around you, and a high quality feel, then you can do a lot worse than the Pan. And no, I haven't experienced any infamous Pan weaving. Yes, at high speed, in windy conditions, there is a feeling of 'looseness', but I have experienced far worse on previous big bikes.
