“Power feels about the same as my previous bike (1250 Bandit) but torque is spread wider and higher. Notably less than the later 1050 version, though much of this, I think, is down to the much sharper throttle response on the 1050.
The bike is old (1999) but low mileage (17000) and runs well. Its real world quick, very economical and handles well. At just over £1000 plus new battery and MOT it represents outstanding value. Brakes are excellent and comfort, despite the sportyish riding position, is reasonable.
Downsides are heavy throttle (single cable, heavy return spring) and clutch, but still manageable. Worse is the handlebar vibration which is intrusive enough to have me wringing my right hand after just 10 minutes of riding. Unless I can fix this it would be a deal breaker.”
“The bike is uncomfortable for longer road trips mainly because of the leg position, otherwise it is a very good and fun ride that is closer to a speed bike than a tourer.”
“I've owned a four cylinder (CBR600) and a twin Aprila RSV Mille), and the Triumph has the best of both worlds. I love it, touring or scratching it delivers every time.”
