“With rider only there is plenty of performance on tap at virtually any speed but a bit sluggish at motorway cruising speed fully loaded and two up. Taller riders would find long runs uncomfortable due to buffeting at motorway speeds especially if using the standard seat at its high setting.
The bike's excellent performance and braking makes scratching around the country lane great fun.
I ride with a group most weekends and get 52- 56 mpg on these rides. Scratching round the lanes brings this down to mid- high 40s.
I bought the bike new in mid 2011 and have no desire to change it.”
“I down-sized from a Tiger 1050 as my commute had reduced to less than 10 miles each way, and the 1050 was a bit OTT for the shorter journey. The 800 is ideal for the purpose and a very easy bike to manage. Lighter than the 1050 and therefore easy to skip about with in traffic.
On longer journeys (over 100 miles) it doesn't have the grunt of the 1050 and therefore not quite so easy to cover the ground with, but still a good bike.”
“I have owned the Triumph Tiger 800 (abs) since 2012. I have only clocked just under 5000 miles on the bike, 2500 of these miles have been done in Europe, Holland, Belgium, France, Spain and Germany. I have found the bike very enjoyable and comfortable to ride, as I’m now 58 yrs old I find the seating position very good. On our trip to Spain I took the better half with me and she found the pillion comfortable as well. I have the 50l Triumph tailback fitted, I fitted some Krause panniers as I’m not keen on the bulky solid panniers. If you are looking to burn some miles in Europe I think you will be pleasantly surprised with this bike.”
