Senkin “Snowman” Nigori Reviews

3.9 Rating 11 Reviews
I picked this “Senkin “Snowman” Nigori“ thinking my friend who doesn't usually drink sake, would probably enjoy it. While it has a yogurt-like tartness, it drinks smoothly with grape, green apple-like notes. It also has a clean sweetness that makes it very easy to drink. Indeed, my friend exclaimed, "Delicious!" and really liked it - we finished the bottle in no time. I think it would pair well with cheese too.

Surprisingly citrusy. Did not get any sense of sparkling notes. Refreshing and good texture for a nigori.

Light and refreshing with a hint of sweetness. Similar to champagne.

We love nigori... then thanks to Tippsy and Snowman, we found SPARKLING nigori!!! It's amazing, and the packaging is adorable. A very good nigori, the sparkling qualities really do give it a kind of fresh snow feel!

This was a really fun nigori to drink and way more interesting than I thought it would be. The taste is overall sweet with a delicious kiwi like flavor to it. The feel was certainly something new. It has a heavier body with a silky texture that ends in bite from the carbonation. I definitely encourage following the pouring instructions for this one to get the best out of it.

Enjoyed this sake chilled with some apple and cucumber with miso paste. It was a delicious nigori that was not overly sweet for my taste. The slight carbonation was fun as well!

Yummy! We're offering this just in the winter time, running out soon - so we look forward to offering it again in the winter. :) Thank you for your review.

Being new to sake in general, and this being my first nigori and also sparkling sake, I lack the reference to compare this to other similar sakes. That said, I enjoyed this offering. It had a soft, sweet taste with a fine carbonation. It almost reminded me of a less sugary popping candy. Champagne / sparkling wines have always been too dry for me and this is how I always wanted them to taste. Now I know I prefer sparkling sake and could see this working well at a brunch as an alternative. I would buy this again, but am not sure if/when I would as there are so many other sakes to experience. Even though I really liked this one, I deducted a star as this would not be something I would reach for as a go to sake. It was fun to try and want to thank Tippsy for introducing me to something I probably would not have picked on my own.
