“Addendum after 10 months: No problems. Still sound beautiful! For "fun" I again listened to KT66: nice but that's all, KT88: excellent but not quite the full-bodied presentation of KT77. I'm now feeling quite comfortable with the Upscale Cyro KT77. The sound, in my rig, is simply beautiful and closely reminds me of what I hear in live music (I'm an orchestra player.) Original post: My second set of GL KT77. Although the first set had a failure at 8 months, after returning to the stock EL 34 and trying a set of KT66, I decided to take a chance on KT77 again. The sound is simply beautiful in my system (EVO 300 Integrated and Cheviot). There is both fullness of body and crystal transparency to the images. This time I chose cyro in the hope the process weeds out some material defects. This set started out sounding better than the first set did, much less time to full bloom. As the website currently notes reliability has declined but the sound is so wonderful I remain hopeful and I have three spares remaining from the first set. Please note in my system with these tubes, not with EL34 or KT66, there is a noticeable mild pop during warm-up from cold when the B+ relay clicks. I have been assured this is normal and has to do with the heaters not being warm enough.”
