“I bought these as replacements for the stock tubes in my Ayon Scorpio. Within the first 10 minutes I knew they were better, and now that they have more hours on them, I can say that they have significantly improved my amp. The most noticeable improvement for me is a deeper and more detailed soundstage. They also have a richer tonality along with more detail that gives the music a much more enjoyable quality. I don’t think I could have spent a better $250 on my modest system. I’m looking forward to changing out the stock KT88’s to the Gold Lions next. I’d also like to complement Kevin’s team on the tube matching. In my case all 3 tubes were exactly matched. Thank you Kevin for your dedication to the art of tubes!”

“I already have Gold Lions from Upscale in my Rogue Hydra and Rogue Sphinx. I like them a lot. I have a pair of Brimars in my preamp, but have had a couple of them go bad. So this new pair of Gold Lions is, for now, backup for the preamp.”

“I'll give it two because the sound was there but, I understand that some hiss from tubes is normal, although when you can hear it over the quieter passages, it's unacceptable. I literally mean over some of the music. This particular tube hissed so loud, wherever my volume knob was turned, that I couldn't stand to keep it. When I got it, I left it on for a few days and listened everyday for about two weeks and no improvement. The sound of it was excellent when the music was loud, great soundstage, but drove me nuts at the end of every track. I've chucked tubes that hissed less than this one. Didn't bother contacting them because of the no return policy, will just never buy a new tube again, or something that says it's hand picked. Think someone was picking something else that day.. I'm much happier with my Realistic Lifetime tube that I got for five bucks somewhere. VPI HW19 mkiii, Soundsmith Carmen, Rogue CM2, Acoustic Zen Adagio. Cables, room treatments, dedicated electric.”

“I'm using the Gold Lion 12AU7 in a pair of PS AUDIO Stellar M1200 monoblocks. These a definitely a step up from the stock PSvane tubes. There is a perception of a smoother and more open presentation with a quieter background. Also more linear sound from top to bottom. A slight ringing with the other tubes is now completely vanished. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade. Great service from Upscale! Thanks”
