I've got HANA Umami Red from Upscale Audio for my main rig (SME 20/3 and Manley Steelhead) about 3 years ago. It was an amazing upgrade from another, more costly cartridge. It transformed my system - jazz, classical, progressive rock sounded soo natural and just with a bit sweetness without loss of details. The sounstage was spectacular - wide and almour three-dimentional. Hana ML went to my second system- Yamaha PF-800, replacing vintage Ortofon X3-MC cartridge. Installation was a breeze, and, even with unexpensive Phonomena II phonostage, the basic sonic signature of Hana Red was there: very low surface noise, same touch of sweetness not masking the details, three-dimentional soundstage, though just a bit narrower than one provided by Red. I still have less than 30 hours on HANA ML, and the cart is evolving to better. Also I'd like to mention almoust full absence of hum and noice, even at 60dB setting. Bottom line - I would live quite happily with HANA ML installed on my primary table - so good this relatively unexpencive little cart us! P.S. Upscale Audio Customer service is outstanding

I have paired this cartridge with a Technics SL1210GAE turntable and the result is fantastic. Great detail, separation and soundstaging. Really exciting presentation. Thanks to Sean Paul at Upscale Audio for his expert advice on setting up the cartridge.

I find it to be a very neutral cartridge as is something I look for in a cartridge with my tube equipment

When I moved from a moving magnet to a moving coil cartridge about 6 years ago, it was a revelation. When I upgraded from my Zu 103R to the Hana ML, my mind was blown. I could not believe the deep-reaching microline stylus actually provided way less surface noise and so much more detail, by a very long shot, than the conical 103R. I am hearing instruments on my LPs I have not heard before. There is no congestion in the sound whatsoever. Can't wait to try classical music, but jazz and even rock have been amazing. My chain: Hana ML on a souped-up Marantz TT15, to a Parks Audio Budgie SUT 9 or 18 to 1, very short Siltech G5 ICs, Musical Surroundings Nova II, very short Siltech G6 IC, Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum, Siltech G5 Speaker Cables, Klipsch Quartet (new internals).
