This cart is a real star. It matches well with the ELAC PPA phono preamp I bought from upscale a few months ago. More detail, cleaner mids tight bass.. Had a great experience with the upscale rep who helped me on the phone. I had another cart in mind but he asked about my system and the types of music I listen to and made a couple of recommendations, the Hana was one of them and I have no regrets. Shipping was fast, the cart arrived to me in NY in 2 days. Big thanks to the Upscale team

My first moving coil cartridge. Very detailed output; I'm listening to familiar tracks in a totally new way.

Upgraded a MM cartridge on my music hall MMF 3.3 to the Hana SL MC cartridge, thanks to the great staff (Randall) and others in helping, it was if my turntable had been unchained, the sound seems to flow with small details coming to life.

I have a Rega P6 turntable that came with the Exact 2 MM cartridge that I was not unhappy listening to, but my EAT preamp supports MC cartridges and I knew I would make the jump someday, so I called Sean at Upscale and he gave a wholehearted endorsement to the Hana SL MC with complete confidence. I'm so glad he did. I was worried like so many attempts to upgrade, that maybe I wouldn't be able to hear much of a difference. Within the first minute, I just sat back listening and realized my jaw was hanging open. I thought it may need time to "burn in" before hearing a difference, but I'm about 6 hours in and am already thrilled. My best description would be detail and clarity - maybe authentic would be a good way to describe it. As I'm listening, I imagine I'm hearing the recording exactly as it was intended. On the setup, for the newer Planar 6 tables, Sean said a spacer for VTA is not needed. I set the VTF at 2.00g per spec and made sure my alignment was good. That's about it. It recommends >400 ohms and I've set mine at 1000 right now and the gain at 55db. It sounds great now, if it's only going to get better, I can't wait. Very happy I tried this one out.
