“A little over 2 years ago I stopped by Upscale Audio to speak to someone about replacing my aging Audible Illusions M3 preamp. A half hour later I left with the EVO 100, after a brief conversation with Kevin about my system and what I valued in music. It wasn't an impulse buy. The Prima Luna was already on my very short list and I'm so glad I purchased it. The build quality is bettered only by how this preamp gets out of the way of good recordings and lets you simply experience the emotion, energy, and joy of music. With the exception of a single rectifier tube that failed early on (I replaced both with a pair of JJ Electronic GZ34s), the preamp has been faultless. I wasn't interested in the remote at first, but since I have only an analog front-end it is indispensible for muting the system when the stylus heads for the dead wax. I can't imagine not having it now. At this point I'm giving serious thought to going all in and buying the EVO 400 amp to go with it.”

“This was my first time ever listening to a tube preamplifier and my intro into tube amplification. Growing up in the 70's my parents had solid state all in one systems that we listened to for playing music. I have truly enjoyed listening to my new EVO 100 Pre, it has taken out the harshness from my solid state power amplifier while playing hard rock and heavy metal. Absolutely love it! It is persuading me to go all tube for my power amplifier as well. Both the PrimaLuna and Upscale Audio websites have explained and taught me alot about tube amplification. I sincerely appreciate the resources on those websites. The YouTube videos featuring Kevin from Upscale Audio are fantastic! Very inspiring, insightful and instructional for learning all about tube audio. Thank you Kevin for taking the time to make them! Your passion and joy displayed in those videos is why I bought the PrimaLuna EVO 100 Preamplifier. “The PrimaLuna Evo 100 Tube Preamplifier is the single most expensive piece of gear in my stereo system with exception to my Speakers. It also contributed the most notable improvement to the sound quality (next to my speakers) to date. I plan to upgrade the tubes for it next. However, not in any hurry to start rolling tubes, enjoying the stock ones. It doesn’t disappoint on any level. Thank you Sean for advising going to “separates “ rather than “integrated “”

Thanks for the review, David. Yes, the stock tubes in PrimaLuna are fantastic. Tube rolling is really more about tuning for your specific listening, and you can live happily ever after with the stock tubes.
