“I have Vincent PHO-701 with a Brimar tube recommended by Upscale. After a couple years of use, since I was having some RFI issues, and a bad case of upgraditis, I replaced the PHO-701 with an EAT E-Glo Petit. The EAT was super quiet and sounded good, but did not present the same huge soundstage as the Vincent. So I replaced the power supply with an Sbooster. It helped a little but not enough, so I put on two NOS Mullard ECC83s. A little improvement but still missing something. I decided to live with it and put the Vincent in my closet. That was 18 months ago. Today after a 2 hour listening session, I got the Vincent PHO-701 back out. Night and day. The soundstage is much larger, and instrument placement is better. All in, I spent 3x the money on the EAT. The Vincent shouldn't sound better, but it does. Now the EAT is in the closet.”

“After 50+ years of variables in Turntables; GE, Dual, BIC, Garrard, onto SYSTEMDEK VIII, PRO-JECT, Audio-Technica, Linn Axis and now with countless years of Rega steadily in use, I used both the 7 and 8. For the price of either, highly recommended. Especially the 7. Imagine the phono stage in the late 50's and 60's Fisher tuners. Do any of you out there really remember what we were actually hearing until the phono cartridges of the here and now became the supreme being of reproduction? How many of you are musicians with impaired hearing? Shall we ask Townshend? Some of the audio reviews with a mixed mutt of electronics in tow are questionable however I would spend $800 on the 7 without hesitation. What really became of analog? Still most enjoyable listening to older ANALOG vinyl though I recently stopped buying digital formatted vinyl at $30-$40 a pop. For all new audio format recordings, it is back to Compact Disc and the ARCAM CD5 is a great player that will not break the bank. I used to own the Rega Apollo which was nice however my fave CD player before having to spend thousands is the Vincent CD-S7. I paid a mere $700 for a used one. I even owned a Manley Chinook and for me, not worth the $$. Bottom line, it is your electronics, your vinyl, your cartridge, your era of processed CD ie. flat liner 80's pressing etc. Pick your poison and mix and match!!”

“Big fun just to look at. Dead quiet. Flexible. Love it to bits, already bought an upgrade valve, but really can't fault the stock setup. Unlike most of its ilk, it draws attention to itself. We don't need no stinkin tv, we'll just watch Dana's phono amp. Love it!”

“I’m goin the give a 5 star because the service at Upscale was great as always. However, I would recommend carefully considering other phono stage options as this unit I believe has considerable competition in and even below its price point after having let it break in and using with both MM and MC options. Well made unit, but sonically would rate this a C- in its prospective class.”
