I bought this based on the recommendation by Joel. It was perfect for my room paired with Bowers 702 S2 speakers. I have to say it made a remarkable improvement in the sound in my room. He was right when he said it would pressurize my room and it would improve the dynamics of my system. I can actually FEEL the music and my room feels like a jazz club now. Paired with the new Naim ND5 XS2 that he also recommended, my system has a warm and smooth sound with a tight bass signature. It also improved the output of my vinyl setup with my Clearaudio Concept with Hana ML cartridge. I am looking forward to upgrading the REL subwoofer cable at some point. Thanks for the awesome service!

A pair of S/812's flank my Klipsch Cornwall 4's powered by a 25 watt per channel tube amp. Everything alleged about enhancement of soundstage and musicality is true. Deep and articulate bass is a given with REL, but it was surprising just how much the higher registers were enlivened. The REL's polypropylene rims add a nice suppleness to the bass that the paper cone of the Cornwall's bass driver finds friendly especially in humid conditions. These subs are heavy and quite solid and very well packed. I could not find a hum-free way to set up a stereo pair using high-level connection even after trying all of REL's recommended strategies. The only hum-less high level stereo connection was achieved with the twisted yellow and red wire strategy, but this resulted in too loud volume; so I have one sub running on high-level connection and the other on low-level connected to my pre-amp mono sub-out. This sounds perfectly fine. On the high-level connected sub I am using the Bassline Blue Speak-On cable. On the low-level connection is the Audioquest Black Lab cable with a Y-splitter at the sub end. The detentes or "clicks" on the control knobs are nice because settings can be easily duplicated and matched between sub pairs. Each click on the crossover knob represents 2.5 Hz, so you know where you are at very specifically. Theses are my first subwoofers, and now I cannot imagine setting up any audio system without them.

This is my first experience with the 812. I can say that I fully appreciate the sound & adjustability of this subwoofer. I had an idea that it was of high quality construction & excellent fit / finish. Upon opening the box I was thrilled to find out that the looks & quality were exactly what I had hoped for. A true piece of equipment & not a box with a speaker thrown in. I am using this to compliment a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 500s I purchased recently at Upscale & is hooked to a Marantz SR8015. My use & desire is strictly music. This was a great addition !

Shipped quickly. Packed securely. Setup was not complicated. It is blending well with my setup using the high level connection. I'm still making micro adjustments to the sub's position in the room. Primary use is for classical (including organ) and also jazz music. It's quite satisfyjng to hear the bottom end of the Saint Saens Symphony No. 3. That's what I wanted. The finishing of the sub is beautiful, as well.
