“This is going to be hard for me to objectively compare, but the short story is I like them a lot. My Primaluna Prologue integrated amp came with the standard PL tubes, which sound great. I look forward to buying more when they become available again based on price and performance. Anyway, I was playing a set of winged-"C" EL34s for a while until one died, so I put back in the PL EL34s. They sounded very nice but I used them up. It happened so slowly that I didn't notice. Now I plan to always have a spare set of power tubes on hand to compare every year or so. Before I made this discovery, I bought 4 of the Tung-Sol EL34Bs for the heck of it, just to have.. I popped them in one day. Wow! What I used to play at 2 o'clock (volume knob, - not 2:00 AM in the morning that gets me in trouble with GF) was now the same at 10 o'clock. That's when I realized that I had certainly used up those PL tubes. They gave me many happy years. Just so you know, I'm apparently hooked on EL34s. I have KT88s and KT 120s, and while they all have nice attributes, I keep coming back to EL34s. The Tung-Sol EL34Bs have nice detail, good frequency response through the range, and they sound super powerful! - but I assume in my case that's at least partially because my old tubes were really pooped out. I don't think I'll buy tubes from anyone else. I've been a customer for over 20 years, starting with a Cary SLI-80 and Cary CD player, and even back then buying tubes from Kevin, before he became a big star. Ha! - Seriously, congrats Kevin and all of the staff for your expertise and the growth of the business. You guys are the best. One last thing, bass from these tubes is nice. I'll probably eventually get a REL sub as my next purchase but I'm in less of a hurry.”
