Why is a filter even needed? The rationale is to keep the air clean so that mold does not get it, and bad odors are kept out of the unit. However, none of the wine cellars in Napa, Burgundy, or Bordeaux use activated charcoal filters. Any picture of the wine cellars for the premier crux owners show mold. dust, dirt, and spider webs everywhere. They have no concern that any of these things adversely affect their wine, even decades later. So again, what is the rationale for paying $25-40 a year for something may or may not be needed?

Product is essential for operation of the wine cooler. However, they are OUTRAGEOUSLY priced. $315 for 4 filters. Seriously?
