“We bought the Vinotheque XL Single Zone Wine Cellar to replace an older, louder, and somewhat larger wine refrigerator. We have had the Vinotheque in use for almost three weeks. Here are my thoughts:The maximum capacity of the unit is rated at 250 standard Bordeaux bottles. My wine collection consists of approximately 90 percent Burgundy bottles. Given the slotting of the wooden shelves I describe below, I am able to store 219 bottles in the refrigerator. Given all my Burgundy-type bottles, when I open a couple of the shelves, the shelf sometimes lightly scrapes the tops of the bottles below it.The unit comes with 14 shelves in two different configurations: first, the eight regular sliding shelves consist of four single-stack (one layer) and four with an empty shelf space above so that you can stack a second layer in back (I did not want to risk double-stacking in front and having bottles slide forward when I open the door). These shelves have wooden â€œslotsâ€� for seven bottles in back and six in front. I double-stacked another seven bottles on top in the back of those four shelves that allowed it. The second configuration consists of the six slotted â€œVinoviewâ€� shelves that accommodate seven bottles in back and four in front. At the bottom is bulk storage in which you can triple-stack, in front only, three rows of seven bottles each (the compressor and other items take up the space in back). If you do the math on the shelf capacity I describe, you'll see that it adds up to 219 bottles. Given the slotting on each shelf, I can't see how having primarily Bordeaux bottles would result in more capacity. I assume you could remove shelves and then double-stack in the additional space above or you could risk double-stacking in the front of all such shelves. The photo of the unit on the website shows the front of the second shelf being double-stacked. Perhaps that is not a risk if you do not double-stack in back. I would note also that the photo shows 15 shelves in the unit rather than the 14 that it actually comes with. If the folks at Wine Enthusiast know something that I don't about achieving greater capacity, I'd love to hear from them.The unit is blessedly, beautifully quiet. It is located in our living room about 10 feet away from a chair where I spend much of my time. I often don't even hear the compressor go on, and I can't hear the quiet internal air distribution fan until I open the unit's door.My wife and I think the unit is very attractive. We like the sleek, modern look.The fifth photo on the website shows the control panel located at the top of the unit. The manual explains that first number is the temperature that you have set the unit to achieve. The second number should show the actual temperature at any given time. Over several days, I have used two and even three different thermometers, placed in varying locations, to verify the â€œActual Temperatureâ€� display. I've found that it is sometimes inaccurate by as much as five degrees, but more often by only a couple degrees. That said, I don't consider this issue to be of much consequence.Overall, so far, we are quite pleased with our purchase. Thanks, Lou Ann.”

“As our collection has grown, it became necessary to replace our previous wine cabinet with a larger capacity unit. We are thrilled with this cabinet! Easy rolling shelves, more space between shelves, quiet running, and beautiful. If you need a larger size unit, this is worth consideration.”
