“This is a highly-recommended wine opener. It was recommended to me by a prominent Sonoma winery. "We use it all the time to open older bottles with questionable corks." Now, so do I! I have a number of older bottles in my cellar, mostly Bordeaux, that have corks that crumble when I attempt to insert a corkscrew. This necessitates pulling pieces of cork from the decanter filter - and is a real pain. The Durand makes all this unnecessary. It is a combination of an ah-so and a corkscrew. You insert the small corkscrew in, then wiggle the blades into the bottle neck along the cork. With a little effort and a twist the old cork comes out, whole, every time. The Durand is expensive. But, for me, absolutely worth it.”

“A bit on the pricey end, but works well to remove the cork fully from the bottle. A bit more force was nessitated to remove the cork from the bottle then I would have thought, so maybe look for other options if you are older or not that strong.”

“I have collected wines for 50 years, and I have difficulty on occasion with the corks on bottles that are decades old. I had just had great difficulty with a wonderful old wine when I received the email that promoted this product. When I saw the price I was taken aback at first. I looked at the few reviews and I went ahead and ordered this opener. I immediately tried it out and with just a little bit of effort successfully removed the cork--intact--from a bottle that all of my fancy, expensive, and regular openers would not even begin to budge without destroying. If you enjoy great old wines that are greater in value than this one product, then this opener is ESSENTIAL for your wine cellar or wine room. I thank the reviewers who went before me because I followed their advice and bought the Durand Opener. If you buy it, you will be joining me in writing a review to help our fellow wine lovers who enjoy great old bottles of wine. Buy it now before you damage a wonderful bottle of wine.”

“This the best wine opener I have ever used. The center screw device tighten the cok on the sides and the the two side tines are lined up by the screw device to easily work their way down. The combination of the out and inner pressure makes for an easy removal. Old bottles that normally would break apart come out intact. Expensive but worth to enjoy old bottles.”
