The machine works as advertised, and does a good job of decanting a bottle of wine in minutes, but the carafe is so delicate that it will break from the lightest touch, rendering the whole machine useless. I have already purchased 3 of the 250 ml carafes, and 1 has also broken from light use. Even If you set the carafe down gently, the inner mechanism that transfers the oxygen to the wine is so delicate that it can break without breaking the carafe itself. Not looking to spend another $500 for a new piece of equipment. Waiting for the company to release a replacement carafe.

Having owned this equipment for a couple of years now, I'm just not convinced. Yes, it does soften young wines (and make them more approachable), such as big, young American cabs and Zins, but I mainly drink Spanish Tempranillo and Cabernet dominated Bordeaux wine from France (that's proper Bordeaux wines from Bordeaux in France ). These wines are complex and I feel it does not have the same effect as traditional decanting. Again, it does soften these wines, but "3 mins" in the machine, is nowhere near as effective as "3 hours in a decanter". I have experimented a lot, and for example, I recently decanted half a bottle of a good $60 2009 Médoc for 5 hours and then I poured the other half in the machine and gave it a 5 minute blast and compared the wines. Completely different! The half that had been traditionally decanted for five hours had completely opened up and was an absolute delight to drink (as expected), and the one that had been in the machine for four minutes really just “softened” the wine and was still very closed. If you drink young, inexpensive wines, then this does make a difference making them softer and more approachable, but if you enjoy more expensive and complex wines, don’t waste your money. I think this caters for the main American market, but for the more sophisticated pallet, this is not worth it! Very disappointed in my $500 purchase.

I was skeptical. But this blew me away. You can easily tell the difference in the wine after using this. I had friends & family blind test the same wine out of the bottle and after different decants. All thought that they were tasting multiple different wines. Better yet, it has always made a positive difference in the taste of the wine. Cheap wines are better, expensive wines that should be aged for years yet are drinkable now. So happy I took a chance on this! Cleaning is easy if you don’t let wine sit for more than overnight. Bottle brush at most. I’ve had no issues with just rinsing it out to keep it clean.

It does a great job at decanting, however it is extremely difficult to clean. The first time I tried to clean the unit I broke the center. It perpetually has tannin stains, but I am too scared to try to clean it too abrasively.
