Mmmmm..... Chocolate, Tobacco, Blackberries, Coffee, and Dark Plum Flavours. Sweet, but tart, with a pepper finish. Intense Dark red colours and tear drop stains on the glass after every sip... This Winery seems to tick ALL the boxes for me. This is one very complex and Indulgent wine with an abundance of flavours. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out all the smells and flavours coming through, but only 2 seconds to know I LOVED IT! I drank the whole bottle without food to really get a taste of all the flavours coming through (they kept changing!). I would recommend you match it with a nice Lamb or Beef meal - maybe cottage pie or similar. If you can, buy a case of this wine and hide it from everyone... 95/100 IMHO

Michel Torino Estate Altimus 2008, a blend of 52% Malbec, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah, and 6% Bonarda, grown at 1700m in the Cafayate Valley, Salta, in Argentina, with all bar the Syrah component from vineyards planted in the 1940s-50s. 14.5% alcohol. An opaque purple-black colour with a vibrant magenta rim, shiny, and medium-high viscosity. Sweetly scented, floral and plum with touches of glacé fruit. It also smelt of tar and leather and the barest hint of cedar despite spending 18 months in 100% new French oak barriques. A very concentrated, powerful yet harmonious palate with lovely freshness and finesse from its high altitude origins. Once again tarry like the nose with firm fruit-tannins providing structure but also more juicy fruit including blueberries on the very long, even finish. Another person suggested "elderberries, more intense than blackberries". A wonderful, complete wine that matched well with rump steak served with a plum fruit-based port de-glaze, yet also delicious even on its own. Very impressive.

OH MY! What a wine!! If you have invited the wine snobs in your life over for dinner and are convinced the $3/litre plonk you normally drink just won't cut it - THIS ONE is your salvation. Guaranteed to impress even the most intense wine consumers! This wine is an Argentinian blend (Malbec, Cab Sauv, Bonarda, and Tannat), purple with a bit of brickiness. Cherries, spice, cedar, pepper, and cigar box on the nose. Ripe plums, cedar, caramel/chocolate/vanilla on tasting. Mixture of soft and rough tannins with good acid and a very long finish. I honestly don't have enough adjectives to describe this wine adequately other than "fascinating". I have not enjoyed a big red wine nearly so much in ages. I'm planning on stashing a few of these in the cellar to dig out in 3-5 years and see what develops. Worked great with our grilled steaks. If you want a truly memorable wine, definitely grab this one.
