“Excellent chisel set for the price — well worth the six-hour drive to get them! These are comfortable, nimble, and just the right size for most of my heavier “light-duty” carving tasks that require gentle mallet work. They’re also well-balanced, which makes long sessions (6–8 hours of tapping on a single project) much less tiring. They seem to hold a solid edge even after a full day’s work on hard maple, black walnut, and birch. My set came pretty sharp out of the box — about 90% flat and mostly square. All of the chisels had a slight ~3° bevel offset to the right, which actually makes it easy enough to realign when the time comes. That said, I’m sure I’ll wear them far past that point on both sides before I bother resharpening and squaring them up again, so np!”

“Got these on sale and love them. I have been using "big box" chisels and these are a huge step up. As described, they needed to be sharpened and flattened. Once I completed this process they sharpened to excellent edge. Using them for dovetails is so much nicer than my previous chisels. I would highly recommend these chisels. Get them while they are on sale!”

“I have no issues with these. Just ordered a second set. For the sale price they can't be beat. Put a secondary bevel on them out of the box in two minutes. Work great, feel great.”

“Sharpening and some flattening was required but they are my go-to chisels for cutting dovetails. Handle are comfortable for paring and hold up with mallet work. They hold an edge but I routinely hone on a 5,000 grit diamond stone after about 10 minutes of use.”

“After having Pfeil butt chisels put on backorder for months, I 'settled' for these. Boy, was that a good move! Yes, these chisels need to be lapped and sharpened, but once that is done, they are a great chisel. Really hold and edge. Fit my hands very well. Glad I made the purchase.”

“The chisels look great and arrived on time. But Iâ€™m just now getting around to sharpening them and Iâ€™ve started with the backs, and they are only slightly better then a mill file flatness out of the box. Additionally, at least the 3/4 is not square to the sides.”

“I bought these a year or so ago because the other brand was not in stock and back ordered several times. I have been VERY pleased with these. They required flattening an sharpening but once done, they have been terrific. Really glad I bought them. As a side note... I have purchased other Woodriver items and always well satisfied with them.”

“The butt chisels flattened and honed razor sharp and are great for completing dovetails. I had planned on getting another brand but because that brand was continually back ordered, I settled for these. However, the Woodriver set has proven to be excellent for my purposes and are considerably less expensive than the other brand.”
