I will say, if you like the old style bailey planes get these hand planes. Rob Cosman helped design these planes. I own the block plane, the 4 1/2 and the jack with the hopes of obtaining the jointer plane soon. These planes are HEAVY which is great for use. I highly recommend sharpening the iron for best results. The lateral adjust is very simple to understand once acquainted with its function. I also recommend using wax to help these planes glide easily. For the price you can't go wrong. I love them and I prefer these planes over the bench dog garbage rocker sells IMO. If you are considering these planes I highly recommend them.

I always loved my antique Bailey planes and never had any complaints. That said, I wanted something more square to shoot with. Now that I have this as a basis of comparison, I see this is a whole other thing. Not sure I could go back now. I've always loved a No 3 plane. I wonder what the WoodRiver No 3 is like??? Hmmm....

Very disappointed with the plane I got. The corner of the cutting iron was chipped off, small tear out on the rear tote and the biggest problem was the chip breaker only touches half way across the iron. The other corner has a .015 gap. Certainly not a premium tool which you are paying for. Save a little longer and buy a real premium tool from an American maker. Would not purchase again and would advise against it

I have been watching Rob Cosman's YouTube videos and decided I really needed a hand plane in the workshop. I decided to order this one based on reviews and Rob's videos. I received the plane fast from Woodcraft and it has not disappointed me. In less than 30 minutes following Rob's video on set up I was taking shavings. based on how nice this plane is I plan now to get more like the low angle block plane. I highly recommend this plane for the price and quality.

I can't express how happy I am with this plane! I use it on my shooting board, I use it on edges and faces and almost never have to reach for a longer plane to get a smooth enough surface for finishing. With a sharp blade this plane consistently gives me onionskin thin shavings. This plane delivers on the promise that hand planes give you a better surface than you could ever get with sandpaper. Sometimes, I even go out to the shop, pick up this plane and a scrap of wood and just make shavings for the fun of it! I highly recommend this plane.

I had no problem with the Woodriver plane but was disappointed on how they were on back order so long and while waiting they went up on price. Due to this price increase I decided to upgrade to Lie Nielsen.

Good looking plane but for a beginner I was expecting just a little instruction on what all the different screws are for etc. I’ve watched all videos of Rob Crossman but shouldn’t it have come with something. JB

No matter how hard I try I can’t seem to get the blade sharp. The edge seems to crumble while honing no matter what I do. This is not my first wood River plane and all other are first class so I will be buying more of this line. This blade just has me confused.
