“Mine is wall mounted with a cyclone separator to remove chips prior to the rikon. I replaced bag with 6” dryer hose and vent out of the shop so that the fine dust, which is the greatest health risk, is a non issue. The cfm is much better without the resistance of the bag and chips going through the motor. I would also comment about the review stating his shop vac was better. I don’t know what size bandsaw he is using, but many “hobby level” bandsaws have outlet sized for vacuum hose rather than a 4” hose. You need the higher suction of the shop vacuum or a dust extractor. This unit is meant for higher flow at lower pressure for high volume chip removal for devices with 4” outlet. You should not expect it to work well with stepped down adapter to small diameter hose for random orbit sander, pocket hole jig, or other tool with smaller outlet. This unit will also not handle multiple branching/ multiple blast gate systems. I have one “y”/ 2 gates near the motor. One leg with rigid 4” piping, 45 degree bends to terminal “y”/ gates at my table saw with router table built into left wing. The other leg is straight run of ridged down wall terminating to flex tubing I can move from 15” bandsaw, planer, thickness sander as needed keeping length of flex hose to a minimum. I have been very pleased with it.”

“Bought this a few months ago to use with my newly ordered Laguna table saw. Table saw still on back order so tried to use this recently with my Delta Planer. Hooked it up and it clogged within about 30 seconds. Seems the little strips from the planer bog up on the cross braces on the intake port. Tried clearing it twice, no go. Hope it works on the table saw as I am past return date. If you want to use this on multiple machines I would not recommend. Will update regarding table saw. Have serious doubts it will work with jointer.”

“Very disappointedâ€¦ I expected this to perform better than the shop vac I have which has a rating of 97 CFM (vs 660 CFM)â€¦.wrong. Chips are left all over. I have a Jet Cyclonic Separator (20 gallon) that works as well (if not better than the home made 5 gallon I had previously. Before I received the Rikon #60-105 all was OK. Lots of chips in the Cyclonic Separator and few left on the work. After setting up the Rikon #60-105 There are more chips on the work, chips in the hoses, and fewer chips in the Cyclonic Separator. Why???? NO Vacuum, and maybe CFM not to spec. With my hand held anemometer I get 66.5 mph at the inlet of the Rikon 60-105. For a 4 inch tube this is 510 CFM (not 660 CFM). OK maybe my el-cheepo anemometer is off by 23 % ? Well maybe but I made fixture to connect my Automotive vacuum gauge to the suction ports of the Rikon and my shop vac. Rikon maybe 0.5 inches of vacuum, and shop vac 3.5 inches of vaccum. What I believe this is telling me is that there is a lot of clearance between the impeller and the housing of the Rikon, and as soon as there is a load on the Rikon the air does not move efficiently beyond the impeller housing to the outlet. I am going back to the shop vac. Maybe a farrier will buy this for a forge blower. Note there are no vacuum specs. That I have seen on Dust collectors. Ask the question before you buy.”

“Just purchased this unit today, and to say that I'm impressed is an understatement. I had to downsize my shop when I moved, and could no longer use my Jet DC-1100 on my Grizzly 5 hp tablesaw. So, I hooked up a Ridgid shopvac to try to capture the dust. WRONG! A tablesaw DOES require at least 450 cfm of air flow in order to capture the dust. Not only that, the noise level was absolutely horrendous! Sound checking with a dB meter showed almost 90db at the tablesaw when both saw and vacuum were running, and over 80 db with just the vacuum. It was painful to be near it. (As an FYI for non-sound engineers, for every 3db of sound increase the noise level doubles.) So, I hooked up the Rikon and re-ran the sound tests. With both units running, the level was at 78db!! With only the Rikon running, it was at 64.5db. Incredibly quiet. So far, I'm very impressed with the unit.”

“Purchased on sale for my thickness planer and jointer - the machines are next to each other on my shop floor with the dust collector between them on the floor, so switching a hose between the two is not so bad - for less than 200 bucks it really sucks some chips - it's not a bad shop vac either I also plugged it to a inexpensive (amazon purchased) remote starter I'd honestly recommend it to anyone hooking it to one machine at a time”
