I don't own this yet, but plan on getting one as soon as I get my Bandsaw. Just wanted to mention some things regarding pricing when comparing to others. many companies make basically this same portable unit, and its what I was looking for. This Rikon, at first , seems a little higher in price, but you get everything shown and what you need to use it immediately. Harbor Freight is $100 cheaper but this doesn't cover any hosing or attachments that you must also buy (and can't be bought in-store), many people upgrade to a 3 micron bag which is another $20 on Amazon. Also, on-line comments reveal the fitting on the machine is 4.5 inch diameter, instead of the 4 inch you are expecting. Grizzley's price also doesn't include any hose or clamps, again the 30 micron bag so you may want to upgrade the bag and has 100 cfm less suction. This Rikon at least comes with a 9' hose and the 660 cfm suction is at the top end of these portable units.

I don't often write reviews but, after 4 months of use, I decided this item was worth a review. It takes small shavings from my turning but, most of all, it sucks all the dust from sanding on the lathe. It's so efficient that I don't need to use a face mask any more.

I gave away my large dust collector because it took up too much room. I bought this one and have been very satisfied with the performance and quality of Rikon. It is easy to roll around to my various tools and is light enough to carry, if needed. Suction works well with planer and catcher basin. Highly recommend.
