“I bought this device to help me deal with the horrific SmartStart interlock system on my vehicle. While this isn't the place to trash the horrible SmartStart hardware. it sure is awful and keeps failing, failing, failing. On top of that the user has NO IDEA what his/her BAC level is. With SmartStart its either PASS or FAIL with penalties and payments. No clue to what is going on, cannot be used to monitor. I bought the BACtrack S80 to help me understand what the alcohol I consume is doing. It's extremely educational to watch BAC levels go up over the course of nursing a beer, and watch them go back down as my body metabolizes the alcohol. I can feel a sense of comfort knowing when I can and cannot attempt starting my vehicle.
On a broader scale, its very valuable knowing what my BAC is during the normal course of drinking some beers at home. How would anyone know what their level is unless they can freely test it? I can see that what is a normal pattern of beers for me is not at acceptable by my state's BAC levels. I didn't know this about me before.
