“I've been using my Element for about 2 years and though it was time to calibrate it. I sent it in an was pleasantly surprised when I received a refurbished complimentary replacement. The turnaround time was fairly short even though it's around Christmas.”

“Even though the S80 units are rated for 100 tests, they have worked well past that limit before needing re-calibration. Also, if the company can not re-calibrate the unit, they will send out new units at no extra charge.”

“After 3 years, our S-80 Pro was still giving consistent results between 2 or 3 tests, a few minutes apart, it always read 0.0 when no drinking, and always gave some result, when alcohol had been consumed. But, as a precaution, I decided to send it for calibration, in case it was consistent but no longer accurate.
I was disappointed to hear back that they could not re-calibrate it. It was lightly used (maybe a few hundred tests), never abused, and we always waited 20 minutes, to avoid contaminating the sensor. I certainly hoped for a longer lifespan for my unit. I guess they can wear out, after a few years, from age alone.
BACTrack offered to return my unit (possibly giving me unreliable results), or give me a $35 discount off a new one. We had been happy with the S-80, but I did a little research, to see if I might want to choose another brand, this time around. I've about decided the S-80 Pro is still the way to go, though with reservations. We've been asked about our breathalyzer many times, at parties and events. We might still recommend it, but now with an important caveat.”
