“My 2nd S80. The first would not recalibrate. Possibly due to too much time between recalibrations so I will be more vigilant with this one. Also will try and be sure to use it more regularly in order to keep it accurate. That said, the unit is small, easy to use and assumeably accurate though I really don't see how the end user can verify short of testing it against a known quantity, say at the police station. I did have occasion to be roadside tested by the police and my unit registered .044. The officer's unit registered .066. Yikes! Too close for comfort. Excellent for a reference point but you are playing wth fire if you try to take it up to the threshold. That should not be the purpose for using this.”
“I bought the S80 two years ago and was starting to get low results. Everything came in at about .03 when I knew I had been drinking all night. Sent the unit in for calibration and got a brand new unit along with 50 mouth pieces and a memo saying my old unit could not be calibrated. The company didn't even question me to see if I had been abusing the unit. The new unit works great. I did some unscientific test and compared the results with an online calculator and it was right on the mark. Bactrack has a customer for life!”
“I bought this a year and a half back and it started giving odd readings or no reading at all. Sent it to San Fran from NZ for calibration and 2 weeks later they send me back a new one because the old one wouldn't calibrate.”
