“I feel it is unclear who the “target audience is”Very little practical information/lots of interview though!! ….. also how you can class the 1 minute introductions/assignments a “lesson” baffles me!!! Quite honestly very disappointed as was really looking forward to this.”

“This should definitley be re-titled as An Introduction to PORTRAIT Photography with Rankin.
Since there's no wildlife, landsacape, street, very little photo journalism etc. etc. you should make it clearer what we are going to get here. That said, this is a brilliant study of Portrait photography.
I prefer a show-don't-tell approach, so the bit with the Post-Production guy was a little annoying, just because I wanted to see him in action, moving the sliders and swiping some brushes over images.”

“As an introduction, it’s a fantastic course. I rated it 4 stars because I’m a pro photographer so I did have to skip a few lessons. However, I’m always learning and a lot of the lessons did inspire me and I’m always fascinated by Rankin and his work. My favourite lesson was watching him shoot in the studio. I want to see more!! Rankin, can you do an advanced course or even just recordings of you in the studio?
I would recommend this course, it’s the best introduction to photography that I have seen.”

“A well thought out, wide-ranging and novel course and approach to the topic for me - especially how Rankin has chosen to incorporate a broad range of perspectives (the model and photographer interviews), alongside the more 'nuts and bolts' aspects of photography like use of light, depth of field, aperture, camera types etc. I also liked the attempt to nurture community via the practical assignments, where students are encouraged to share their work on socials using the BBC Maestro and Rankin tags. When I do get round to doing this 'homework'(!) I like the idea that it could be a shared experience, with supportive like minded folk - it can after all be quite a solitary hobby; possibly even intimidating for a new generation looking to skill up in (and possibly even work in) this field, so - GREAT idea. ENJOYABLE COURSE, THX.”
