“At the moment I'm a poetry/lyric writer, with creating music afterwards with a co-writer, still searching for more of the latter. I found the first half of the course good for reaffirming things that I already do. The second half was very interesting with the music making. I've been writing things for years and in more recent years my writing had taken a bit of a lull. However Gary's course has inspired me to get going again! Thank you”

“I am not a fan of boy bands, never listened to Take That or Gary Barlow. But I appreciate that their songs are really catchy. As someone who writes songs just as a way to deal with the world, I thought I'll listen to this.
First half was a bit slow but probably necessary for the second part to hit as hard as it did for me. The way Gary Barlow works through ideas and self-edits was really great. How he uses Logic Pro to sketch ideas and build basic structures of a song was also great. As much as I do not listen to pop music, he is great at it. So just being able to watch him create part of the world we live in was an honour.

“Gary's sets out from the very beginning that his highest hope is that the course will be inspiring for song writers. It is! I've been writing songs for nearly 30 years and it has lit me up to try a different approach to this sometimes puzzling thing that is songwriting. It was nice to hear him construct a song from scratch and hear and see my own methods at work, but where i tend to stop on the first version of a thing, Gary delves deeper and writes 3 or 4 versions of a thing/part.
I'm not a fan of Take That in particular, but when you hear the seeds of those songs and how they came about, you can't help but smile and appreciate the hit maker telling you and showing you how it happened. Highly recommended. Cheers, Gary”
