“I find these cameras easy to use and they have a pretty good battery life. The footage is excellent. The service that I have experienced from Cycliq has also been great.”
“I bought both the FLY 12 and FLY 6 recently. I also looked at the latest Garmin Varia, but for the price of their rear camera only, with FLY I got front and rear. Cameras are really easy to use and set up via the app which is a plus. Overlaying Strava is also simple but devices must be time synced with mobile before setting off.
From a battery life perspective I chose to only use organic mode and have turned the rest off. Rear gets me about 4 hrs with light and camera running and front gets me about 7hrs. So on longer rides I run just the rear camera and use a seperate rear light to get the rear recording duration.
Rear camera ( FLY 6) quality is OK, but I'd like it to be similar to the FLY12. I feel that on the road the biggest threats come from the rear so high quality video and longer battery would be great.
On my first ride I recorded a tradie in a dual cab Ute with big trailer attached come blast past me (on open country roads) missing me by about 6 inches - completely unnecessary. However his trailer had his business name and phone number so I emailed him the footage from the Fly 12, and politely asked him to be more careful and respectful of cyclists. To give him credit he did respond and apologise, but he's now on notice that cyclists have this great tool at their disposal.”
