“Excellent unit. Hoped battery life would be a bit better. Can't read card directly onto PC as per 12 camera, but not a show stopper. Great light on rear.”
“Being a solo cyclist I rely on my Fly6 in the event of an incident. The new model has a better battery life and the 64GB card allows a full ride to be captured.”
“This is a great small and light weight light/camera. Video quality is enough to see small details such as license plates. the light is bright enough to alert any cars around. I typically only use this as a rear light in the dark days of winter. The only thing I think that could be improved upon is battery life. When doing those long rides (60-100 miles) I find myself charging at a stop. Although I will say it charges really fast.”
“I bought this purely for the camera as I have a very good Exposure Blaze light on the back of my bike. The camera is excellent, which is the really important thing. Ideally, I would have got a camera only but there's really very little else like it on the market. The unit itself feels very solid and well made. I looked at the Velcro attachment strap with some suspicion but, actually, it seems to do a pretty good job.
So, why only four stars? Because, so far, the battery life has fallen woefully short of the promise. Cycliq claims 5 hours with camera only or up to 4 hours with the light as well. My first charge I got only 3½ hours, camera only. I'm hoping that it will improve slightly after the first few uses but I honestly can't see it getting anywhere near the promised 5 hours. Also, in common with the Fly 12 front camera, the battery seems to drop more rapidly once it reaches 50%, so I now tend to charge them once they are down to half.
The other slight moan is that I don't think the software is that good. I find it tends to hang at the 'generating low-resolution preview' stage and the Strava overlays are good but rather limited. I had a Garmin camera previously and I still miss the excellent Virb software.”
“I'm not a typical user. I bought the Fly6 Gen3, and attached it to my day pack, not a bike.
I walk for approx. one hour each day on a mix of footpaths and shared paths. There is a minority of adult cyclists who insist on riding on the footpaths, in some places where it is very dangerous to do so.
I've been hit by a cycle myself, and seen pets and kids struck.
So, just like cyclists who need evidence of non-law-abiding motorists...
The Fly6 Gen3 does a great job. The image quality is very good, it's easy to turn off and on, easy to recharge, and helps me be more visible by day and night.”
