“I really wish I could write something positive about the Fly6 Gen. However, on my first ride out with it, it fell off my bike and I have lost it. I was always a bit unsure that the quad lock supplied was good/strong enough for the job. It just never seemed to be a good fit. Not happy but what can you do. I have the Fly12 and that is great but that’s on a quad lock I bought separately.”
“This is my fourth Cycliq camera I’ve purchased. My previous one was the Fly12 CE. I recently reviewed the newest Fly12 Sport on my @bikesbymike YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/EVIQ9NA4h70) and gave it a very good review. However, after using it for several more months, I am less impressed with the new version over the old version. I’m disappointed at the image stabilization feature and am finding it difficult to get steady video quality with the unit mounted onto my road bike. The mount is secure and I’ve even tried adding a rubber O-ring on the quarter-turn connector as some users have suggested. I find that unless I’m riding perfect tarmac, the image doesn’t stabilize all that well. I know that I’d get better video quality on a plush bike, but that shouldn’t be a requirement. And I know I shouldn’t expect the same image stabilization quality as a GoPro or an Insta360, but I’d like to see advancements closer to what the action cameras have successfully produced. Maybe a higher frame rate is needed or some other way to smooth out the video in post-production.”
“The silicone case with the small glass inserts lasted let's say 1 ride for each set AWFUL none of the glass inserts were there when I got back from the rides leaving the rubber case USELESS it now just holds the water inside instead of keeping it out.
Rubber case 0/10”
“Just a few things
The light I am quite happy with but the battery life could be slightly better, on my 4 hr rides it seems to die (flashing mode). I also struggle to get get the recordings from the light
The strap to hold the light on the seat post has to be one of the worst things I ever tried to put onto my bike over the 35 years of bike riding. I had to go elsewhere and purchase a better bracket, I would strongly advise research into a better bracket for the Fly6 and charging that extra £10 or £20 and adding it into the deal. The new bracket that was 3d printed I got elsewhere is fantastic.
Light its self 7/10
Bracket strap 2/10
Overall thoughts:
If the light was sold without the case and strap I would say it is the best out there but the strap and case takes the quality right down.
P.S. I have 15 years experience as a toolmaker & designer and this is not a product I would put my name to or recommend to a friend because of the few issues.”
“I'm sure it protects the lens well. I found that it doesn't adhere completely and I'm a bit frustrated about that but the places it isn't adhering are places that are not close to the actual lens. I think it's worth having but I'd prefer better adhesion.”
“I would not have bought this camera if I had understood that the only tranfer of video was to remove the mircoSD card. For the price this unit should send files via bluetooth to the App. Also, the video card is difficult to remove because of the recessed compartment. The handlebar mount is not adjustable to get a direct angle or level shot if your handlebars do not have a straight section that can be used. The timestamp on the video is in the same corner MS file transfer uses to display the video file name.”
