I was so disappointed when Gentle Hair Dye stopped selling the water colours which I had been using for many years. However, as the new gel dye did not contain any nasties I decided to give it a try and selected Wheat, which I hoped would give me the golden blonde colour I wanted. Unfortunately, it turned out quite brown so I contacted the Support and asked their advice. Alice was extremely helpful and suggested I use half Wheat and half Barley to get the colour I wanted. I used the original bottle rather than a dish and found this worked well. I applied the mixture on just the roots for 20 minutes, then applied the remaining mixture on the rest of my hair for ten minutes. It worked, the colour is perfect and I will certainly use these colours again. Thank you Alice for your help and advice, a Support Service second to none.

The new gel colours are so much better to use, less mess and a better finish.

For no reason I suddenly started with contact dermatitis on my hairline with my normal hair dye, so after much searching I found this wonderful gel. I have had no reaction at all and I can safely do my roots knowing my scalp won’t be irritated. I’ve used 5.0 and it’s a similar/same colour to the L’Oréal 5.0 I used so very happy. The gel isn’t that thick but thick enough to stay on the brush and your hair but I think the plastic caps are a must or it does drip. Only thing I wish they would do is ‘root size’ bottles as I currently have to split a bottle in 2, which is hard as I have to weigh it out. Brilliant product though and glad I found it.

Tried the new water colour gel, easy to use and less development time. Also very quick reply to query from customer support.

I have been using water colours for 10 years and loved the walnut shade . However as that was discontinued I gave the gel colour a try . I tried the dark coffee shade and found it to cover the grey brilliantly and the shade is really natural looking . It isn’t always that easy getting the correct temperature and consistently however I used hand hot water and added the water gradually until I thought I had the gel like consistency and that seemed to work perfectly. I also discussed this with the office who were really friendly and helpful. I will definitely be using this shade from now on and look forward to new products that the company might come up with highly recommend.

I have used the old watercolour mousse a number of times, and after the first use of the bottle - when the tip was cut off - the end cap never quite stayed on properly in subsequent uses and I have multiple dark spots on my bathroom ceiling and some on the walls where drops splashed out. So the first major plus of the new gel is that it is much cleaner and neater to mix! Applying it was a bit of a challenge though, I will need more practice with the brush to work out how to be neater about getting a laden brush to the hair and also parting it neatly to get all the roots (the old bottle tip did that work for me).

Covers greys really well, easier to apply than the original water colour
